Byrdstown Man Pleads Not Guilty To Vehicular Homicide

A Byrdstown man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to vehicular homicide charges.

A grand jury indicted 39-year-old Michael Owens last month after a 2019 car crash killed 71-year-old Bob Allen of Cookeville.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Owens was driving South on Highway 111 in Overton County when his Volvo rear-ended Allen’s 1952 Chevy. Allen died at the crash scene after the impact ejected him from the vehicle.

A judge set bond for Owens at $100,000 on Wednesday and continued his case until April 7.
