Byrdstown in the process of upgrading its walking trail around its little league park.
Mayor Same Gibson said the town received a state health department grant funding the work.
“We’re going through and cleaning out all the woods and the underbrush and the trail itself,” Gibson said. “Going to put in some new rock crossings where there’s water and put a bridge in there.”
Gibson said gravel has been purchased to resurface the trail. Gibson said the town also plans to build a new fence around the playground and install benches.
“We’ve been working with Amanda Woody with the extension office and getting some money for health concerns, so one of the things we wanted to do is take that money and revamp our walking trail,” Gibson said.
Gibson said the work should be completed before little league season begins. These updates follow last year’s additions of exercise equipment and a water fountain.
“Every little bit makes a difference,” Gibson said.
