Buildings at the corner of Spring Street and Maple Avenue will soon be demolished to make way for a new parking lot in Putnam County.
County Mayor Randy Porter said Danny Roberts Construction received the low bid last week to demolish the buildings.
“As soon as that’s completed we will start the filling of the property and leveling,” Porter said. “We hope to begin paving that as soon as paving starts this spring.”
Porter said the parking lot will bring about 55 new spaces to serve the justice center.
“It should help out with a lot of the parking issues we are having around the justice center,” Porter said.
The Putnam County Commission gave approval in August to purchase the property for $210,000.
