Baxter Looks To Increase Work In CDBG Sewer System Improvement Project

The city of Baxter will look to more than double the work done through its CDBG Sewer System Improvement Project.

City Engineer Tom Bennett said that the original contract had some 32,000 feet of sewer line to scope with camera work.

“They are finding a lot of very helpful information,” Bennett said. “The question is going to be what project do we want to do at the conclusion of the camera work, so that’s what we’re going to be working on the next little bit here.”

Bennett said that as of Thursday, John T. Hall Construction has completed about 20,000 feet of camera work. He said that increasing the footage to 75,000 feet of camera work will cover the rest of the sewer.

Bennett said that the approval of the change is contingent on Economic and Community Development approval.

“I wrote that into the resolution because ECD has not formally approved that change order yet,” Bennett said.

In other business, the Baxter Planning Commission approved the preliminary subdivision plat for a property on Chesnut Street known as the Henry Division. The committee approved the preliminary plat contingent that it meets the specs of the required city departments.
