Baxter FD Seeking New Equipment Through Grant

The Baxter Fire Department hopes to get some new equipment from a Tennessee Firefighters Assistance Grant.

Captain Adam Brown said the $5,900 grant will hopefully provide the fire department with new helmets and other items.

“That will also purchase a battery-operated ventilation fan, which is pretty cutting-edge,” Brown said. “It’s gonna give us some advantages we haven’t had in the past and it will definitely benefit the department and the community.”

Brown said the funds would also be used to purchase materials for CPR classes and other training provided by the fire department.

Baxter will be required to pay $2,950 if awarded the grant.

The Tennessee Firefighters Assistance Grant is provided by the Tennessee Division of Forestry.
