Former Mt Gilead Treasurer Indicted For Stealing Money

The former treasurer of White County’s Mt. Gilead Volunteer Fire Department has been indicted on theft of some $73,500. Brittney Hope Webb stole a total of $45,983 from the fire department by taking cash, making ATM withdrawals, and writing four checks to herself. The TBI is investigating an officer-related shooting Sunday night involving the Jamestown Police Department. Officers responded to a 911 call around 8:30pm Sunday in the 200 block of Rugby Avenue. An online threat made against the Cumberland County Schools Thursday night came from an out-of-state juvenile. Former legislator Frank Buck who served Cannon, Dekalb and Smith Counties over some 18 terms, has died. Buck was 89. The Tennessee Tech graduate was born in Trousdale County and settled in Dekalb County. Buck elected to the State House in 1972 for the first of 18 terms. He retired in 2008. The Fentress County Highway Department presented an updated county road list to Commissioners Monday night. Juvenile Pleads Guilty To All Charges In Death Of Cookeville Teen

The juvenile charged in the death of Cookeville High student Alex Hughes Brooks last October pled guilty to all charges Thursday. The 17-year old, whose name has not been released, entered his plea in Juvenile Court to charges of Reckless Homicide, Aggravated Assault and Tampering With Evidence.
