Investigation Continues Into Fairfield Glade Homicide, Assault

The Cumberland County Sheriffs Department and the TBI investigating an apparent homicide and assault in Fairfield Glade early Wednesday. The suspect in the case, 33-year-old Jason James Chapman, was found dead at an Arkansas hotel Wednesday afternoon from self-inflicted injuries, according to the department. Cold Weather Shelter Opens In Cookeville Sunday

An emergency cold weather shelter has been established for the homeless at the Cookeville Rescue Mission. The shelter opened at 3pm Sunday and will continue operations until further notice. Strong winds causing power outages over the higher elevations of the Upper Cumberland Friday morning. As of 10:45am, Volunteer Energy reported 1,454 of its White County customers, all but five, without power.
