3 Cookeville Men Rescued In Gulf

Three Cookeville men were rescued west of Bayport, Florida Thursday after their boat capsized in the Gulf. Mark LaRoche, Kevin LaRoche and Karim Odeh radioed the Coast Guard Thursday afternoon their boat had begun taking on water north of St Petersburg. Tech Grad Honored For Lifetime In Achievement

Tennessee Tech graduate Dodd Galbreath has been honored for his lifetime of work in conservation. Galbreath received the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. He founded Lipscomb University’s Institute for Sustainable Practice in 2007. Two More COVID Deaths At CRMC

Cookeville Regional reported two deaths from COVID-19 since Thursday bringing the pandemic total to ten. Public Relations Director Melahn Finley said both patients were elderly patients with underlying health issues. A total of 25 patients are being treated at CRMC for COVID-19. Cookeville Turf Field Approved

Cookeville High School will get a new synthetic turf surface after the school board approved the financing completed by Cookeville parents. The school board gave the parents and about 75 Cookeville Cavalier athletes in attendance a standing ovation. Four UC Counties Double Digit Unemployment

Four Upper Cumberland counties reported double-digit unemployment rates with Dekalb and Warren Counties among the highest rates statewide. Warren County’s unemployment rate stands at 12.7 percent, down from 17 percent in May. Last June, Warren County’s unemployment rate stood at just five percent. Fentress Sheriffs Dept Looking For Knoxville Teen

The Fentress County Sheriffs Department is looking for a 17-year-old Knoxville male. Gabriel Watson was last seen two times July 7 in Allardt. A Sheriffs Deputy made contact with Watson along KenMor Drive. The teen provided a false identity before fleeing on foot. CRMC Set To Upgrade 50+ Beds

Cookeville Regional will upgrade 43 patient beds and nine stretchers under a plan approved by the CRMC Finance Committee.
