Arrest Made In Attempted Armed Robbery In Smithville

A man faces charges for an attempted armed robbery that occurred at a Smithville convenience store last month.

Smithville Police announced the arrest of 26-year-old Joshua Beckham.

The incident happened August 21 when Beckham allegedly entered the East Broad Street business with a knife and demanded money. Officials said he fled the scene without taking anything.

Smithville Police Chief Mark Collins said officers have recovered shoes, gloves, and the knife that Beckham allegedly used during the crime.
