Area Law Enforcement Asking Drivers To ‘Click It Or Ticket’

Upper Cumberland law enforcement agencies are asking motorists to “click it or ticket” while on the road.

The White County Sheriff’s Office and Crossville Police Department are participating in the national campaign encouraging drivers and passengers to wear their seat belts.

The Tennessee Integrated Traffic Analysis Network (TITAN) reports nearly 10 percent of people who died in motor vehicle accidents last year were not wearing a seat belt, totaling nearly 300 people.

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office states more than half of all seat belt-related fatalities last year occurred in the evening and nighttime hours. The THSO asks all participating agencies to take a “no excuses” approach in issuing citations related to seat belt violations.

The national “Click It or Ticket” campaign begins Monday and runs through June 3.
