Grant applications that funded several murals across the Upper Cumberland last year have reopened.
UCDD Tourism Recovery Coordinator Hannah Carroll said non-profits and local government entities can receive up to $3,500.
“It is a beautiful way to showcase what the staples and the history of each of these cities and locations,” Carroll said. “We always see a great involvement in the community and residents.”
Carroll said applications need to include a proposal and narrative about how it will benefit the community. Carroll said the funding can be used for more than just murals. Carroll said for example, a spring school musical or a downtown bluegrass festival qualify, as well.
“Funds may be used to provide some innovative art experiences that are new to the community,” Carroll said. ”
Carroll said the deadline to apply for an Arts Build Communities grant is July 1st at noon.
