Amber Alert Suspect Found In Monterey Charged With Murder

The amber alert suspect found at the Bethel Inn Hotel in Monterey has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.

27 year old Tyler Rios from Highland Park, New Jersey is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend. Rios led members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and TBI to a location within Monterey city limits, on highway 70 where the woman’s body was found.

Putnam County Sheriff Deputies and Monterey Police Officers located Rios inside the hotel where they found his 2 year old son unharmed. Local law enforcement received information from the Union County, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office about an endangered missing adult and an endangered child.

Rios remained in Putnam County custody until he was extradited back to New Jersey. Rios made his first appearance in New Jersey Court on July 20, where his charges were read to him.
