The City of Algood presents its annual “Let Freedom Ring” Celebration this Saturday.
The celebration will consist of food, kids activities, live music and fireworks. Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison said the event is designed to celebrate the holiday with the community.
“We just think it’s a great opportunity to give back to the public and help the public celebrate the 4th of July, and celebrate our freedom,” Morrison said. “And we think its important to do these kinds of things for the community and have events that the public can come out and enjoy.”
The city has hosted the celebration for several years. Morrison said the city tries to plan the celebration a year in advance.
“We try to make it a little bit bigger each year,” Morrison said. “We are going to try to have some extra food folks there, and it’s just a big event and we keep trying to make it better.”
Morrison said the event is free and will be packed with exciting things to do.
“It’s just a fun night,” Morrison said. “It is all free to the public except the food, whatever food they get of course they will have to pay for but everything else is free, entry is free, and then at nine o’clock we set off the fireworks, and highway 111 country will be broadcasting music in sync with the fireworks and so we are just excited to have this event again.”
The celebration will begin at 5:00 P.M. at the park located off 4th Avenue.
