Algood has wrapped up the final renovations on the grounds of Cinderella Park and are ready to install equipment.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said the drainage box and some tiles had to be rebuilt. Morrison said replacing old equipment and cleaning up existing parts of the park is a big part revitalizing downtown.
“Citizens deserve somewhere good for their kids to be able to go and play, so fixing that up to where it wasn’t a safety hazard,” Morrison said. “They can feel comfortable going over there and letting them swing and slide and they’ve got a nice little playground to use.”
Morrison said besides getting new swings and slides, the merry-go-round and spring animals have been kept and cleaned up. During Monday nights work session, there was even discussion among the city council about considering a name change.
“There’s some confusion of whether it’s called the Fantasy Park or the Cinderella Park because I think we’ve called it both,” Morrison said. “I think we’re gonna look at that and review it and maybe come up with an official name for it.”
However, Morrison said there is no set time frame for completion. A local artist did the repainting on the spring tiger and elephant.
