Algood plans to proceed with fireworks, music and vendors as part of a socially-distanced July 4th celebration.
“We can abide by guidelines as the state of Tennessee releases those,” City Administrator Keith Morrison said. “I think we can still meet them. It’s at the end of June so I think that will give us some additional time to prepare.
Morrison said the city has already ordered and paid for the fireworks show. Music has been booked and Morrison said he believes the city can continue with that part of the celebration while social distancing.
“We are considering not doing any of the inflatables or what we consider the high-touch items where you would have kids piled up playing,” Morrison said.
Morrison said he has not ordered inflatables this year, noting he would normally do so over the winter.
The celebration will be held June 27 with music beginning at 5pm and fireworks at 9pm. Morrison said city officials will continue to monitor state guidelines and adjust as needed.
Algood resumed its Fourth Of July celebration in 2016.
