Algood Middle And Cornerstone Next In Line For Gym Floor Resurfacing

Putnam County Schools to make improvements to the gym floors at Algood Middle School and Cornerstone Elementary.

Deputy Director Tim Martin said the work is to help with general wear and tear on the floors. He said every year they try to budget funds to help the two schools that need upkeep the most.

“Paint new lines on it, we put a new logo in the center of it,” Martin said. “It’s not a new  floor as far as the wood is concerned, but we’ll sand it down, put a new finish on it, and go back with that.”

While the two schools are next in line for the resurfacing, Martin said the main focus will be the overhaul of the Avery Trace Middle School gym floor. The gym suffered water damage earlier this year and needs an entirely new floor.

Martin said because of that, Algood Middle and Cornerstone will have their resurfacing done during the school year next year. He said they hope to do Cornerstone during fall break do Algood Middle School after next school year ends.
