Algood Inside Precinct voters will need to vote at Algood Middle School on Election Day this Tuesday.
Putnam County Election Commission Administrator Michele Honeycutt said periodic issues with the elevator at the Algood Municipal Building left the location as a non-accessible precinct. Honeycutt said voters who are used to voting at the Algood Municipal Building should have received information on the new location in the mail.
“Everyone in that precinct is mailed a new card and it has their new location on their voter card,” Honeycutt said. “There was also a slip of paper in that card envelope on bright colored paper, to let them know we were changing their location.”
In case any Algood Inside Precinct voters missed the alert through the mail, there will be a sign on the municipal building telling voters where to go. Algood Outside Precinct voters are still voting at Algood Elementary.
“We do have a lot of new signs over there so people know where to turn in and which precinct is which,” Honeycutt said. “The Algood outside, they did move them, they were in a smaller room and now they’re in the gym.”
With one day left before Election Day, Honeycutt said there are only a few things to know once a voter arrives at their polling place. Honeycutt said voters need to know what to bring, and how to dress.
“They need to have Tennessee issued photo ID or a U.S. Government issued photo ID,” Honeycutt said. “They need to not where political clothing or masks or anything like that, they’re not allowed in a precinct with anything political that is on the ballot.”
Honeycutt said the Algood Outside Precinct does not have any city only voters. She said there are 25 to 30 Algood voters who are in the Cookeville High School Precinct.
