The City of Algood will wait a little longer for construction to start on the new farmer’s market.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said he’s still trying to determine the cost of materials before moving forward.
“We have got the underground electric in, we are working on trying to get the foundation poured. We have asked the guy that was going to do the volunteer work to give us an update on the equipment and cost of materials,” Morrison said. “And that way we can present it to council and get an official vote to move forward with it.”
Local contractor Bryan Henry offered to construct the pavilion at cost of materials in February. Morrison said he hopes to bring the price before the council in September.
“[I] hope to have it soon. I’d like to have the foundation poured in a couple of weeks to be ready to move forward when the next council meeting comes up,” Morrison said. “And get that up in the air and get that going.”
The City of Algood delayed the farmer’s market project after rejecting high bids in October. The farmer’s market will be built across from city hall.
