Algood City Council will consider rezoning property on East Main Street Tuesday night.
City Manager Keith Morrison said two zoning codes currently apply to the 11-acre property.
“Part of it is R-1 and (low density residential) and part of it is C-A (general commercial),” Morrison said. “They want to keep the front piece on Main Street as low density residential. The back piece, they want to change to light industrial. What they’re requesting to do is to work up an entrance from Highway 111 and put RV storage facilities on the back half of the property.”
The light industrial (I-1) zoning already borders the back half of the property next to the old Freddy Duncan storage building.
“The current property is about 11 acres,” Morrison said. “They’re going to take about 5.2-acres of it to do this I-1 zoning on the back half.”
Algood City Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday inside city hall.
