Algood Connection To New Green Mountain Water Lines Positive

New water lines serving the Green Mountain community have served just the purpose that Algood and Putnam County had hoped.

Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison said of some 15 residents eligible, most of them have tapped into the line. He said he believes the new line is meeting the new customers’ expectations.

“We haven’t had a whole lot of issues,” Morrison said. “We’ve had a line that got busted by putting in some fiber networking, so we’ve had to deal with that. But other than that, no major issues.”

Morrison said some residents are still in the process of getting connected to the line. The city signed off on the project’s final numbers in January.

Part of the project’s goal was to account for future development in the area. Morrison said the city will be ready when that growth comes.

“I think it’s a good project,” Morrison said. “I think it’s helped the folks in that area that were having water issues, so I think it’s a positive outcome for us and for them and for the county.”

He said throughout the process of new homes connecting, there has not been much additional work required by the county or its employees to assist in that process.
