Airport Board Selects New Fuel Supplier

The Upper Cumberland Regional Airport (UCRA) will soon have a new fuel supplier.

UCRA board members awarded a contract to Avfuel Wednesday night. Airport Manager Dean Selby said he will now begin negotiations with the company.

“The RFP (request for proposals) was just the general scope of what you’re going to provide to the airport and what you offer,” Selby said. “Now that I’ve been directed to go to Avfuel, we will begin discussing the details of how they are going to implement the different programs they proposed.”

Shell Aviation and Epic Fuels also presented proposals to supply fuel. Shell currently supplies fuel to the airport, but without a contract agreement.

Board members seemed to like Avfuel’s prices, marketing plan, and ability to quickly supply fuel to the airport. Selby said he’s hoping to have a contract in place before November.

“I’m guessing, but I think we can have this done pretty quick because these were very detailed proposals,” Selby said. “All three proposals were very strong, but I feel like this one is so close that we could probably have it done within a month.”

Avfuel is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. According to it’s website, it has more than 3,000 worldwide locations and more than 650 Avfuel Branded Dealers throughout North America and Europe.
