Livingston is suspending all future COVID press conferences due to improved COVID positivity numbers.
Overton County is reporting 38 active cases in the county, new cases reported have dropped from 9.6 per day to 3.9 per day over the last 14 days.
Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes said the press conferences have served their purpose to keep the community informed.
“I’m going to suspend any press conference in the near future,” Hayes said. “Until our rate gets a little bit higher or goes outside or goes a little bit outside the norm. So we won’t have one next month, not one scheduled unless there is just a major spike.”
Livingston Regional Hospital reported a significant decrease in COVID inpatients, saying the facility has only one COVID inpatient as of Monday morning.
Director of Schools Donnie Holman gave a report Monday of COVID cases inside the school system that provided a positive outlook as well. Holman said the system only has two students in quarantine and zero positive cases.
“I think that’s due to everybody working together and I’d like to thank everyone,” Holman said. “Parents and everyone that’s worked with us to help things to be in as good of condition as it is.”
Overton County Health and Rehab Public Relations Director Scott Stevens said visitations are back open at the facility, by appointment only. He said guests can schedule 30 minute visits.
Stevens said the facility is also opening its doors to new residents and patients. He said that includes the rehab center and long-term residents.
