Jackson County Utility District Finished With Repairs

The Jackson County Utility District has finished making repairs and will soon have all customers supplied with water.

Office Manager Crystal Bean said the water tank is filled and lines are currently filling. Bean said there are roughly 100 people out of water in Flynns Lick still, but expects all customers to have water by the time they get home tonight.

Bean cautioned residents that the boiling notice is in effect for any customer receiving water.

“We don’t want a chance of any type of bacteria or of anything in the water,” Bean said. “Just until we can get those samples to the labs and confirm that the water has been treated appropriately on the water plant’s end that we purchase the water from.

Bean said the goal is to have the boiling notice lifted in the next few days, or Monday at the latest. Bean said work had to continue later than expected because of air locked pumps, and crews had to ensure the water tank would be pressurized.

“Our pumps were air locked in, so it took them a little bit of time to get that,” Bean said. “But they got all that taken care of last night before they went home. Made sure the tank was getting pressurized and filling up. So that way, that thing can be doing its thing overnight.”

Bean said that work today went smoothly after working out the kinks last night. Bean said if anyone still finds themselves out of water during the night there is a way to make emergency contact.

“We have on our answering machine here at the office, we do have phone numbers for emergency contact,” Bean said. “So unless we update on Facebook that we still have people out of water, I will update that as I hear tonight, as it goes on. If we do end up having some that’s still we’re not able to get water to, for whatever reason tonight. As long as we have everybody back in water, those emergency contacts are available on our office phone. Call any one of those numbers and we’ll get someone to you to find out what’s going on.”

That number to call is 931-268-2880 for the Jackson County Utility District Office. Bean said residents can still pick up bottled water at the Jackson County Rescue Squad building at 703 School Drive until 5:00 PM on Tuesday.
