Three people suffered injuries during a chain reaction crash in Putnam County Saturday evening.
The accident happened at the 284 westbound mile marker of Interstate 40.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol Crash report said 52-year-old Ronnie Phillips of Crawford was traveling West when his Ford F-150 came upon two vehicles that stopped for a crash that occurred ahead. The report said Phillip’s vehicle rear-ended a Mazda SW that was occupied by a family from Louisville, Kentucky.
Officials said the impact caused the Mazda to rear-end a Toyota Rav 4, driven by Robert Kirkham of Silver Point.
Two Louisville residents and Phillip’s passenger received treatment for minor injuries at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
The THP did not issue any charges or citations as a result of the crash. The accident caused the westbound lanes of I-40 to be shutdown for a period of time.
