I-40 Resurfacing Project To Cause Nightly Lane Closures

A resurfacing project will continue to cause nightly lane closures along Interstate 40 westbound in Putnam County.

Jennifer Flynn is the spokesperson for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

“They’re planning on beginning to place the surface mix this week,” Flynn said. “People need to be aware that this will be going on at night between mile marker 291 and 301.”

Flynn said Rogers Group should have the $2.1 million project completed by August. Crews began milling the section of roadway at the beginning of June.

In addition, TDOT maintenance crews began patching potholes along Interstate 40 westbound Thursday morning. Flynn said drivers can expect intermittent lane closures throughout the day.

“The pothole patching will be a mobile operation but it will still effect traffic,” Flynn said. “I would encourage people to pay attention to the message boards and signs. Watch out for our crews out there who are trying to make our roads better and safer for everyone.”

The pothole repairs will be taking place between mile marker 291 and 285.
