Obituaries For Friday, June 28

Mr. Jerry Robbins, age 70 of Cookeville, died suddenly Friday morning June 28, 2019 at his home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony for Leo Winfree, age 87, of Baxter, will be held on 11:00 am Saturday, June 29th, at Presley Funeral Home. Leo passed away, Monday, June 24, 2019, at his home. Leo was born on October 8,1931, in Baxter. He was the son of the late Homer Winfree and Stocia Maddux Winfree. Leo enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart of Valor along with numerous other awards and decorations. While serving during the Korean War, he met and married Yasuko (Tie) Koga, of Koga, Japan in 1952. Leo has been a resident of Baxter for most of his life. He was baptized as a member of Baxter United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the community, always enjoying sharing stories and the company of his friends in town. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, riding motorcycles and working on the farm. He loved learning about all things history, philosophy, psychology, and medicine. He was a wonderful, loving, and devoted husband, father, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Alvin Winfree and his wife Yasuko. Leo is survived by his brother Clarence, his four children, Alvin Winfree (Julie), Keith Winfree, Scott Winfree (Stephanie), and Amy Wheelock (Tim), 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. The family will be receiving friends at 10:00 am with the Service held at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Knoxville at www.knoxrmhc.org.

Funeral services for Mr. Ray Lumpford, age 73 of Livingston, will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 12 PM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Maxwell Chapel cemetery. Mr. Ray Lumpford passed away at his residence on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Mr. Ray Lumpford was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 15, 1945 to the late Esaw Lumpford and Jewel Ramsey Lumpford. Survivors: 1 Son: Ray Lumpford and wife Lindsay; 1 Sister: Pam McPherson and husband Jerry; 3 Grandchildren. A host of Family and Friends also survive. Preceded in death: His Parents. Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 29, 2019 starting at 10 AM until 12 PM.

Funeral Services for Nathan Prigmore, age 60 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 1:00 pm at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ located at 141 McClellan Court Cookeville, Tennessee 38501. Interment will follow in the Heritage Cemetery, Algood, Tennessee. Nathan was born Saturday, May 23, 1959, in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Charles Albert Prigmore and Marion Oneal (Lambertson), Prigmore. Nathan was a loving son, brother, and husband. He loved music, especially playing his guitar with his friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 11:00 am until time of service at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Lucille Masters Carwile, 88, of Cookeville will be at 1 p.m Saturday June 29 at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 -8 p.m at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home, and again Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Carwile passed away Thursday June 27, 2019 at her home in Cookeville. She was born December 6, 1930 in Overton County, TN to the late Oscar and Foy Flatt Masters. She has lived in Cookeville since 1953. On May 12, 1951, she married Ezra H. Carwile who passed away September 10, 2005. In 1961, Mrs. Carwile and her husband co-founded Jackson & Carwile Refrigeration, which later became Carwile Mechanical Contractors. She continued to contribute to the growth of the company through her bookkeeping and managerial responsibilities until 1976. In November of 1976, she became seriously ill with Guillian-Barre Syndrome. After many months of prayer, faith, and physical therapy, she recovered enough to do the things she enjoyed most, including being a housewife, working in the garden and flowers, and mowing the lawn. Mrs. Carwile was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church for over 58 years.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas E. Swoape, age 90 of Sparta, will be conducted 4:00pm Saturday, June 29, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Doyle Cemetery. Mr. Swoape passed away on Tuesday evening June 25, 2019 at NHC of Sparta. Survivors include his two sons: Ralph (Ann) Swoape of Quebeck, Howard (Ruby) Swoape of Spencer; Three grandchildren: Scott (Tonya) Swoape of Bone Cave, Chrissy (Heath) Young of Sparta, Timothy Swoape of New York; Four great-grandchildren: Logan Swoape, Gabrianna Young, Ethan Swoape and Jackson Young; Step-grandchildren: James Walker, Stephanie Graham and Josh Graham; Siblings: Dot Roberts, Reba (James) Smith, Nelda McDonald, Joe Swoape all of Doyle. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8:00pm and Saturday from 2-4:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Memorial service for Mr. James Monroe Measles, age 73 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Hunter Funeral Home. Mr. Measles passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. The Measles family has entrusted Hunter Funeral Home with his cremation. The family will receive friends Sunday from noon until service time.
