Jackson County Begins Waterline Rehabilitation Project

Jackson County’s $500,000 waterline rehabilitation project has begun.

Jackson County Utility District (JCUD) General Manager Brandon Holland said the work will be taking place until December.

“The purpose of these projects are to upgrade our water system in hopes of cutting down water loss and keeping water bills cheaper in the future,” Holland said. “Funding is being provided by Community Development Block Grants and throughout county mayor’s office.”

The work will be taking place in Holleman Bend, Stone to North Springs, Booger Ridge, Greenwood Ridge, and Antioch areas. Holland said residents can expect water outages and loss of pressure while the work takes place.

“Typically, no one will be out of water for more than an hour when their service line is changed at their house. When I say service line, I mean from the main line to the meter,” Holland said, “and we will give public notice before shutting any water off from the main line system.”

JCUD crews will spend the next three weeks in the Holleman Bend area before starting work in Booger Ridge.

Holland said he doesn’t expect any contamination to occur while the work is going on.
