Smith County Crash Results In One Fatality

A single-vehicle crash in Smith County resulted in one death Sunday morning.

A crash report indicates that 23-year-old Neil Watson from Symrna was traveling eastbound on I-40 near mile marker 251.

Watson’s 2001 BMW then traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail end.

The vehicle continued through the guardrail for several feet before being pushed back onto the road.

The BMV came to a final rest in the second lane and caught on fire.

The report states Watson passed away from injuries sustained from striking the guardrail.

Authorities have notified next of kin.
