Developers Conducting Engineering Work On East 10th Street

Developers are continuing preparation work for the future expansion of East 10th Street in Cookeville.

That according to City Planning Director James Mills.

“Part of the agreement reached between the city and the developers was they would provide the engineering and surveying work, and that’s being completed now,” Mills said. “We’re waiting until we get plans prepared so we can review before we can begin any type of improvements. As far as I know, they’re nearing completion on that.”

Cookeville City Council voted last month to approve a land right acquisition allowing the expansion project to begin.

Developers are expected to convert the property between East 10th Street and Old Kentucky Road and into a retail shopping center with a new grocery store and office spaces. The road expansion will add two lanes to East 10th Street plus a center turning lane into the proposed development site.
