Cookeville Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges

A Cookeville man faces multiple drug-related charges after being arrested by Baxter Police Tuesday.

Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Nash faces charges of driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and methamphetamine.

Officials made contact with Nash after responding to a vehicle in the roadway with the brake lights on. Authorities located Nash in the driver’s seat with his foot on the brake and key in the ignition.

Arrest warrants indicate that Nash appeared lethargic. Nash failed all four sobriety field tasks.

Officers found four bags containing approximately 85 grams of Marijuana behind the center console of the vehicle. Officers also found digital scales and baggies in the vehicle.

During a consent search, authorities found 4 alprazolam pills and 0.9 grams of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine in Nash’s pockets.

Officials booked Nash into the Putnam County Jail on a $13,750 bond. Nash has since posted bail and must appear in court on March 3.
