Funeral services for Thomas Lewis “Boss Hogg” Clark, age 54 of Cookeville, will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. Tommy is survived by his daughter Kathleen Elizabeth Clark, his pride and joy of Sparta; step-daughter, Shayla Shoemaker of Sparta; and his wife, Tabita Jolly Clark of Sparta. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Sandra Vance will officiate.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dolly D. Peek, age 85 of Livingston, will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Carter Bilbrey Cemetery in Overton County. Peek went home to be with her Lord on Friday night, September 25, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Peek was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on April 28, 1935 to the late Roy and Effie Mae (Swallows) Walker. Dolly loved her children and step- children, grandchildren very much. She loved to have her family around her. Dolly will be greatly missed by all her family and friends very much. Dolly attended the Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include 3 Daughters: Betty Sue Johnson, Kathy Langford, Irene Peek Flowers; 3 Sons: Charles Peek, Wayne Peek, Harold Peek; 2 Step Daughters: Carolyn Vanover, Darlene Pile; 3 Stepsons: Howard Peek, Roy Peek, Bobby Peek. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, September 28th starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Rick Lacy.
Funeral services for Joann Garrison, age 63 of Gainesboro, will be 2 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Crossman and Bro. John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Pippin Cemetery. Garrison was born December 26, 1956 in Jackson County, TN and she passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center at the age of 63. She was the daughter of Marion Thomas Hopkins and Betty Jean Welch Hopkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Zion Church of Christ. She married Danny Garrison on September 20, 1974 and recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Memorials can be made to the Morgan Pippin Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
Funeral services for Frances Winnifred Phifer Dodson, 74, of Spencer will be at 6pm on Tuesday, September 29 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with speaker Sandra Vance. She passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Nashville, TN. Frances was born January 6, 1946 to the late Carl and Frances Phifer in Helena, Arkansas. Mrs. Dodson enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson. She loved attending auctions and crocheting and baking for her family and friends. Her favorite thing to do was to hang out with her constant companion, her fury sidekick, Hoss. Surviving family include; daughter, Rena (Marty) Roberts; son, Freddie Lee Dodson; adopted daughter, Natalie Johnson. The family will receive friends from 3pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Franklin Douglas Massa, age 78 of Cookeville will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday September 30 at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Frank passed away Sunday morning September 27, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be in place and the use of masks are appreciated.
Graveside services for Peggy Lee Carter Roark, age 81 of Gainesboro, will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 1 PM at John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Steven VanHooser will officiate the service. Roark was born March 3, 1939 in Jackson County, TN and she passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville at the age of 81. Peggy was the daughter of Clarance Haggard Carter and Effie Lee Kirby Carter. Peggy was a member of the Church of Christ and was a retired legal secretary. A lifelong resident of Jackson County she was a devoted mother, grandmother and avid reader. On October 3, 1958 she married Ray Jackson Roark. Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 10 am to 12:45 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
