October Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Putnam County Family Resource Agency Director Amy Stockwell said October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.

“It’s an opportunity for us to remind people about domestic violence and the issue it is in our community and we hope we can make it a chance to remind them how they can help and be a solution to domestic violence,” Stockwell said.

Throughout the month, the staff is collecting personal items for victims of domestic violence. Soaps, shampoos, even feminine hygiene products are being collected.

“They can drop them off, we’re open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’re just across from El Tapatio, 269 S. Willow Avenue, Suite E,” Stockwell said.

Stockwell said the items will be sorted into bags to be given to women who have had to leave their homes because of domestic violence.
