Director of Overton County Schools Dr. Mark Winningham declined to comment on the end of the criminal investigation of Livingston Academy teacher Mark Lee.
“I would rather not comment on the investigation at this point,” Winningham said.
District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway announced Thursday that the investigation of any criminal wrongdoing by Lee would not proceed due to a lack of physical evidence and that the statue of limitations had run out on the complaints of two former Livingston Academy students.
The allegations against Lee first surfaced in March, when the School Board was approached by the two students. Initially, the Board of Education suspended Lee for three days, but that was later changed to an indefinite suspension as the school board began its investigation. At the same time, Dunaway’s office also began an investigation into any criminal activity.
Since Overton County’s Board of Education announced its investigation in March. It has made no other statements on the investigation.
