White Co Sheriff Dept Receives First Drug Vehicle

The White County Sheriff’s Office will have a new way to fight drug transportation thanks to a drug interdiction vehicle.

County Commissioners voted Monday to amend the Drug Control Fund to purchase the undercover drug car. Sheriff Steve Page said this will be the county’s first.

“It’ll be a car that’ll be used for specific reasons,” Page said. “That’s just kinda of a surprise for those who think they can run through our county and get a way with transporting drugs.”

Page said the Sheriff’s Department should receive it by the end of the week. He said the price tag is $20,000.

“We’re doing everything that we possibly can [to combat drugs],” Page said. “This is not a new vehicle, this is a used vehicle. This is an effort to save money, which we have done similar things to this in the past to help the citizens save money.”

According to the White County Judicial Quarterly Report, 26 drug related cases were recorded from July thru September this year.

The used patrol car will be transported from the Missouri State Police Department.
