White Co. Schools Return To School With Excitement For First Full Day Back

White County School District returned to school for its first full day Friday.

Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said there was initially nervousness about construction and new bus routes affecting some logistics. He said it ended up being a great day full of success and excitement.

“Our teachers, our faculty and staff did an excellent job of preparing classrooms preparing their schools, getting ready to welcome students,” Dronebarger said. “One school I was at this morning had music playing and teachers were out dancing and welcoming people into the building, they were out opening car doors. It just sets a great tone for the year.”

Dronebarger said they try to keep that tone going throughout the year. He said to do so the system really leans into having a good first day and try to keep that momentum.

Dronebarger said as each year after the pandemic comes to pass, it appears that the general feeling of those in school becomes more and more positive. He said it might take a few years to fully move past it, but White County Schools is on a good trajectory.

“You know those problems and tough days are going to come,” Dronebarger said. “But if you can build on that momentum when they do they don’t set you back too far and you can just keep moving forward.”
