White Co.’s Duck Pond Road Seeing Increased Development

White County Regional Planning Commission approved a preliminary plat allowing for an estimated 24-lot development off of Duck Pond Road.

UCDD Deputy Planner Tommy Lee said this came at the request of developer Jeremy Johnson. He said it divided a property of about 14 acres into one-half to one-acre lots for residential development.

“Over the last 18 to 24 months I would think that there have been close to a couple hundred lots that have been approved out in that area,” Lee said. “So it appears to be growing pretty rapidly.”

Lee said the next step for this preliminary plat will be to install infrastructure installed. He said that includes water lines and county roads.

Lee said all of the lots in the subdivision will need to be prepped for septic systems. Despite all of the rapid development in the area, Lee still believes the county appears to be equipped to handle all of this infrastructure.

“The land is relatively flat, it’s relatively close to State Route 111 so the access is good,” Lee said. “And it appears to be that there is ample water supply out there. So yeah, it appears that the Duck Pond Road area is primed for growth.”
