White County will seek an expert opinion after residents asked for the removal of two stop signs.
The stop signs are where Taft Church Road and Jerry Parker Road meet Judge Austin Road. County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said the commission’s decision to talk with T-DOT first was a wise decision.
“I will see about getting the opinion first and then be able to report back to the committee,” Robinson said. “And let them see if they want to stick with their initial suggestion of removing stop signs or if they want to reconsider that option.”
Robinson said once an expert opinion is made, this will go back to the Steering Committee A, not the full county commission. Robinson said this would not remove the stop sign across from the Taft Church of Christ.
“I’m going to call it a three way intersection, for lack of a better term, it’s basically just a ‘T’, ” Robinson said. “But there are three different roads. It’s the end of one road and another road begins. Taft Church (Road) on the west side, meets the east side of Jerry Parker Road. It’s the same road but there’s a split in the road name there. Then you have Judge Austin Road coming from the south.”
Robinson said this is not a T-DOT road. However, he said they can use engineers to determine if it is in the best interest of safety to remove the two signs.
