Bob Hill, age 87 of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday evening June 1. Arrangements are incomplete.

Krista Lynn McCloud, 50 of Cookeville, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Krista was born Monday, February 22, 1971, in Wellsville, New York, and she was the daughter of Robert S. Kennedy and Dorothy Jean (Lunn) Wilson. Krista was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend. She was a member of Life Church for a number of years where she served in the Cafe. Krista courageously battled breast cancer for 5 1/2 years but continued to be strong in her faith and kept a smile on her face. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Krista is survived by, Husband, Bobby McCloud; 3 Children, Joshua and Lexie Bergin, Jackie Bergin, and Jade Mansell; Step-Son, Casey and Raquel McCloud; 2 Grandchildren, Taylan and Nichole McCloud; Father, Robert, and Diane Kennedy; Mother, Dorothy Wilson; 3 Brothers, Rob and Monique Kennedy and their children, Logan and Keeley, Rick and Tonya Kennedy and their children, Riley and Ryder, and Ron and Jennifer Kennedy and their children, Dawson, Peyton, Reganne, and Taylyn; Krista chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Oliver K. Hunter, age 70 of Cookeville, passed from this life Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Standing Stone Care & Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. Born Wednesday, April 18, 1951 in Cookeville, he was the son of the late Oliver K. Hunter, Sr. and Billie (Wright) Hunter. Kenny is survived by his loving Wife of 49 years, Sandra (Jones) Hunter of Cookeville; 3 Daughters: Sharon Pippin (Jimmy Pippin), Crystal Hunter (Josh Sykes), Fonna Geesling (Tim Geesling); Host of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; 1 Sister: Gail Hunter (BR Smith); 1 Brother- Bobby Sherfield. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will have a private family gathering.

Funeral services for Mr. Dewey Young Thrasher, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 3rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate. Mr. Thrasher died suddenly, Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born September 8, 1939 in Overton County to the late Dewey Shafter Thrasher and Sallie Mae Pigg Thrasher. He was a graduate of Livingston Academy and entered the armed services where he proudly served as a member of the U.S. Navy. Dewey worked as a salesman for various companies. Mr. Thrasher was an accomplished and locally well known golfer who continued to enjoy the sport for his entire life. He served as a minister while living in Boiling Springs, NC. He was a faithful Christian and had a passion for writing songs of praise. Dewey often led congregational singing and enjoyed any opportunity to sing. He has been a longtime member of Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Ruth Thrasher and Janis Evon Thrasher; brothers, Arthur James Thrasher and Billy Bob Thrasher, Jr.; and by half brother, Loval Ayers. Mr. Thrasher is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Margaret Kay Holland Carrington Thrasher; step daughters, Candace Lynn Carrington (Steve) Bertini of Council, NC and Crystal (Henry) Amirkhanian of Cookeville; step son, Curtis Foy (Kelli) Carrington of Holly Springs, NC; brother, Willie “Karl” Thrasher of Scottsboro, AL; cousin, Bonnie Thrasher of Cookeville; former wife, Carolyn Ann Judd; and by daughters, Kyra Kay Thrasher (Stephen) Knight and Tammy (Greg) Thrasher. His family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Upper Cumberland Christian Homes, 790 State Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.

Graveside services for Neilene Winchester (Neil, Bud), age 96, of Baxter, will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 1:00pm at Winchester Cemetery (Lafayette School Road-Hwy 70). Pastor Josh Shermam will officiate at the service. Mr. Winchester passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at NHC Healthcare in Sparta. Neilene was born on August 22, 1924 in Buffalo Valley, to the late Cornealius and Philena Winchester. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Maggie Winchester; his son, Neilene Winchester Jr.; and his second wife, Gloria Winchester; as well as by his four brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Denelda Foltz of Northfield, OH; his grandaughters, Denelda Causey (Greg) of Erie, CO, and Alyssa Shaughnessy (Mike) of Apple Valley, MN; and his two great-grandchildren, Michael and Amber Shaughnessy.

A Celebration of life for the family and friends of Kathleen Reid, 77 of Cookeville, will be held at Logan’s Roadhouse on Friday, June 4th, from 1-3 PM. Mrs. Reid passed away Tuesday, May 25. Kathy was a member of Life Church in Cookeville and a Christian. She had a passion for exercise and yoga, crediting those activities for extending her life and keeping her physically conditioned enough to receive a heart transplant. According to Vanderbilt Hospital records, at 75 years old, Kathy became the oldest person in the country to receive a heart transplant. Her immediate family celebrating her life are her husband of 35 years, Tony Reid; children, Susan Rotay, Mark and Dawn DeMaertelaere, Andrew DeMaertelaere, and step-daughter, Cynthia Reid.

Funeral services for Justin Clarence Tays, age 39 of Cookeville, will be at 12 p.m. Saturday June 5 at Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church. Rev. Maston Jackson will officiate. Interment will follow at Bohannon Cemetery in the Calfkiller Community. Justin passed away suddenly Monday May 31, 2021 at his home. He was born September 26, 1981 to Clarence Tays Jr. and Charlotte Stafford Tays of Cookeville. Justin graduated from Cookeville High School in 2000 where was a member of the CHS football team. He was an avid collector of low riders and classic cars. He co-owned and operated American Roof and Construction and was a member of Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church. Justin was an exceptionally loving father and husband, who naturally connected with others and easily established lifelong friendships. His caring way impacted everyone. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Michelle Nicole Montserrat Tays; two sons, Ezra Timothy Tays and Anson Clarence Tays; father-in-law, Eduardo Montserrat (Karelia Ruiz) of Miami, FL, mother-in-law, Monica Solano of Cookeville; brother, Sam (Beth) Tays of Cookeville; two brothers-in-law, Alan Monsterrat and Eddie Monsterrat of Miami; special cousins, Greg (Donna) Hutson, and Elizabeth Dodson all of Sparta; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence Tays Sr. and Gladys Tays Hall of Monterey, Lando and Ruby Stafford of Sparta. Justin’s family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services both will be held at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mustard Seed Ranch.

Funeral services for Paul Davis Jackson, 83, of Cookeville, will be Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Paul was born October 22, 1937, to the late Reverend Leroy and Maggie Jackson in Jackson County. He departed this life on May 30, 2021, at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, in Nashville. Paul professed a faith in Christ at a young age. Following his 1957 graduation from Darwin High School (Cookeville), he enlisted in the United States Army where he received two honorable discharges between 1957 and 1965. Paul was a custodian at the Cookeville Tennessee Highway Patrol Station for thirty-seven and a-half years. He also worked as a security guard at Cookeville General Hospital. His leisure activities included watching televised nature programs, doing crossword puzzles, and cake baking, fresh apple cakes being a favorite of several friends. In 1966, Paul married his beloved wife, Hettie Page. To this union, two daughters were born. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Hettie; his parents; two brothers, Franklin Leroy (Lorraine, deceased) and Kenneth Dwayne Jackson. He leaves to mourn: One son, William Robert Garrett of Livingston; two daughters, Valerie and Phyllis Jackson, both of Murfreesboro; a devoted grandson, Jordan (Shandi) Goodloe of Cookeville; three great grandchildren, Tarelle Goodloe of Pikeville, Kahlia and Emeri Goodloe of Cookeville. Siblings: One brother, John Edward (Shirley, deceased) Jackson of Cookeville; three sisters, Dr. Ella Louise Jackson, Juanita (Richard) Stone and Eleene Okorji, all of Cookeville. In-laws: Charles (Garetta) Bartlett of Fayetteville, NC, Bobby (Geneva) Bartlett and Kenneth (Anita) of Celina, Jerry Bartlett and Sharon (Jay) Stovall, all of Louisville, KY. Also, he leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Last, but certainly not least, two precious and dearly loved fur grand puppies, ChiChi and Tank of Murfreesboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

Funeral services for Iva Glen Shelton, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Reverends Jonathan and Erin Angel will officiate. Interment will follow in Morgan-Pippin Cemetery. Iva passed peacefully from this earth on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Signature Healthcare, Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville, AL. She was surrounded by her children. She is survived by her children, Aldon Shelton (Johanna) and April Shelton (Andrew Schnell) of Huntsville, AL; and David L. Shelton (Jennifer) of Bloomington Springs; her ex-husband and special friend, Eldon Shelton of Cookeville. grandchildren, Darya Kline (Hunter), John-Riley Shelton & Hollie Shelton of Tennessee and Alanna Shelton of Alabama; sisters, Shelby Jean Fillers of Chuckey and Darlene Baskette (Richard) of Limestone. Special nieces and nephews Debbie Andes (Roger), Dewayne Stanton, Ryan Baskette, Kim Johnston Williams (Bob) and Bryan Johnston (Rena). Former brother-in-law, Charles Johnston. In addition, she is survived by her special aunt Trula Gahagan (Spartanburg, SC) and several wonderful cousins, and other family members. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial services for David Edward James, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 12th, 2021 with Bro. Christian Smith and Katherine Hall officiating at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville TN. He passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. David was born Tuesday, April 14, 1936, Rushford, New York, to the late Paul Harold James and Mary Luckey. David was a truck driver and worked many years over the road. Survived by: Wife – Ethel P. James, Cookeville; Daughter – Denise J. Newberry; Son – Donald E. James. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to the time of services.
