Edward C. Powell, Age 81, Of Monterey, Passed Away On Tuesday, January 1, 2019, At The Vanderbilt University Medical Center In Nashville. Arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Walter Franklin Lack, age 74 of Rock Island will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, January 3, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8:00pm in the Quarles Room of Hunter Funeral Home. He passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at the St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. Mr. Lack was born March 15, 1944 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late James “Jim” & Leatha Johnson Lack. He had a work career that spanned from saw mill laborer to the paint line at Carrier in Morrison. He was an outdoorsmen, enjoying hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Angela Beth Lack; brother James Virgil Lack; sister Willie Jane Reed. Chris Lack, Scott Elkins, Lynn McCormick, Brent Scott, Travis Williams and Christopher Williams will serve as pallbearers.
Funeral services for Zachary Brian Benton, age 27 of Dodson Branch, will be at held Thursday, January 3, 2019 beginning at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with the Bro. Mike Adams officiating. He passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Born Wednesday, October 16, 1991 in Cookeville, he was the son of Nicholas ( Melissa) Benton and Donna Bilbrey( Paul Winslow) Benton. To know Zachary Benton Was to love him. He had this huge heart of gold that never ran out of love to give. His infectious laughter could fill your heart with happiness on the worst days. He could not bear for anyone to have a dull moment in his presence. He was so full of life and love. Anytime family or friends called Zachary was there. He loved big too. He loved his family and friends with all his heart but most of all he loved his baby girl Cortlan. Zachary was a loving son and great brother, but he was an amazing father. He was such a blessing to our family and a huge part of many people’s lives. This world just want be the same without him. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 pm.
Funeral services for Janice Faye Cullom, age 62 of Algood, Tennessee, will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 1:00 from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Minister Floyd Searcy officiating. Burial will follow at the Phillips Cemetery in Algood. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, January 3rd from 5:00-9:00PM and Friday, January 4th from 11:00AM till time of service at 1:00PM. Mrs. Cullom passed away on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 at her residence with her family at her side. Janice Faye Cullom was born on April 5, 1956 in Cookeville, TN to Martha Fields and the late Henry Dexter Manis. In addition to her Dad, she was also preceded in death by her Father: Franklin “Shorty” Fields.

Rhonda passed from this life Monday, December 31, 2018. Charles Frazier and Peggy Sue (Caruthers) Frazier. In addition to her Mother Rhonda is survived by: 1 Brother and Sister-in-law: Larry and Debbie Frazier; A Special Aunt Joyce Allen; 1 Nephew: Cody Frazier and Daughter Skylar; 1 Niece: Christie Frazier; Cousins: Gary and Charlotte and Brad Allen, Tyler and Ashley Madden and Son Jake; A host of friends considered family. In addition to her Father she was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandparents, Sears and Mildred Frazier, and Maternal Grandparents, Clure and Cooper Caruthers, and Special Uncle Homer Allen. James Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time. Richard passed away suddenly Saturday December 29, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services for Betty Sue Clouse, age 78 of Sparta, will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Thurman Funeral Home. Internment Smith’s Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Clouse passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. She was born in Ravenscroft, TN on March 24, 1940 to J.B. Anderson and Hazel Marie Anderson. Betty Sue Clouse attended elementary and high school without missing a single day. She also skipped the seventh grade. She was proud of this accomplishment. Betty Sue Clouse was a college graduate who worked her way through college, while raising five small children. She worked at Mallory Timers in Sparta, Tennessee, Libbey Glass in Shreveport, Louisiana and was a licensed real estate agent. Betty Sue Clouse was an avid animal lover, never turning a rescue down and would even come get her children’s animals at times. She loved her farm and home dearly that she built and shared with her loving husband. Family will accept visitors on Friday, January 4, 2019 in the chapel of Thurman Funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

The family has chosen cremation. She passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Overton County Health and Rehab Center in Livingston. She was born June 15, 1923, in West Haven, CT, to the late Timothy H. Anderson and Mary Veronica Anderson. On December 21, 1944, she was married to the late Orville Roscoe Payne, who passed away October 10, 2005. She was a school teacher, and attended the New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Timothy H. and Mary Veronica Anderson; her Husband: Orville R. Payne; and 1 Sister. Survivors include 1 Son: Samuel (Patricia) Payne of Gainesboro; 4 Grandchildren: Jason (Brittney) Payne, Amanda (Josh) Bilbrey, Aubrey (Chris) Wilson, and Joey (Julie) Payne; and 9 Great Grandchildren: Jamie Bilbrey, Haley Payne, Jacob Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Summer Wilson, Colton Payne, Trenton Payne, Jaylee Kelly, and Landon Kelly. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 P.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Mrs. Maidy Moody, 77, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Poplar Springs Cemetery in Overton County. She passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. She was born February 3, 1941, in Gainesboro, to the late H.H. Scantland and Ova Scantland. On February 27, 1968, she was married to the late L.C. Moody, who passed away August 5, 2009. She was a factory worker, and a member of the Fairview Free Methodist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Sisters: Lois Lee, Betty Merlene Brown, and Ann Wilson. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Nicki (Seth) McMasters of Cookeville; 2 Grandsons: Gabriel Evan McMasters and Liam Conner McMasters; 1 Granddaughter: Adalyn Grace Lee; 2 Brothers: Harold (Shary) Scantland and Randy (Janet) Scantland, all of Ohio; and 3 Sisters: Carolyn (Scott) Taulbee of Ohio, Wanda Wilson of Goodlettsville, and Brenda (Bruce) Auberson of Livingston. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 P.M. – 6 P.M., and Sunday from 11 A.M. until time of services.
