Obituaries For Wednesday, August 28

Margaret C. Lynch, 74 of Cookeville died Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born December 9, 1944 in Bristol, Virginia to the late Wavely and Venus Johnson Carrier. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband of 55 years (Married September 28, 1963) Sherman E. Lynch of Cookeville, daughter Julie Stout of Kingston, son Jeff Lynch of Cookeville, brother Don Carrier of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren: Anna Stout and Davey Stout, Ellie Lynch and Sophie Lynch. No services are planned at this time.

Funeral services for Willard McMillan Marlow, age 92, of Baxter will be held on Thursday at 11:00am from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville. The burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery in Baxter. Mr. Marlow was born on June 25, 1927 in Putnam County to the late Benton and Mettie Vickers Marlow. He passed away on August 26, 2019 in White County at the Life Care of Sparta. Mr. Marlow was of the Southern Baptist faith and a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Baxter. He was proud to have served in the Army during WWII as an M.P. in Germany. Before he retired he worked for, Bower-Briggs, GIL Inc. and Mid-South Machine and Supply. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by; Wife of 65 years Estelle Bush Marlow; 3 Brothers: Carlos, Cecil and Bill Marlow; 1 Sister: Edna Flatt. His Family Includes; 1 Son and Daughter in-law: Glenn and Pam Marlow of Kennesaw, GA; 2 Daughters and son in-law: Sherron Marlow of Baxter and Dianne and Barry Wilson of Baxter; 2 Grandsons and spouses: Chad and Betsy Marlow of Winston GA. And Dusty and Samantha Wilson of Nashville; 1 Granddaughter: Courtney Wilson of Baxter; 1 Great Granddaughter: Bethany Marlow of Winston GA; 1 Great Grandson: Wesley Marlow of Winston, GA; 1 Sister: Jewell Milton. A Host of Nieces and Nephews and friends survive. The family of Mr. Marlow will receive friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Thursday from 9:00am until time of the services at 11:00am. In Lieu of flowers; donations may be made to the Marlow Cemetery, in care of Claude McHenry or donations can be made to the Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services for James Donald Baggett, Sr., 86, of Cookeville will be held at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville on Thursday, August 29th at 12:00 noon. Interment will be follow at Paran Church in Overton Country. Mr. Baggett passed away in his home on Monday, August 26, 2019. He was born in Haywood County on January 31, 1933 to the late Claude Thomas Baggett and Sarah Francis Hollingshead Baggett. James married his high school sweetheart Doris Winegarden Baggett on October 31, 1952, and they were together to the very end of his time on Earth. He taught building trades at Haywood High School, prior to moving his family from Brownsville to Cookeville in 1967. He continued teaching building trades at Cookeville High School until he became an independent building contractor. James did go back to teaching building trades at Monterey High School until he retired from teaching. He had such a positive impact on so many lives through his years of teaching, many students at Monterey High School may remember him as “Sammy”. James was a man of faith, trusting in our Lord and together with his wife, they raised five children. Debbie Baggett West and her husband Al West of Seymour, James Donald Baggett, Jr, and his wife Kathy Loftis Baggett of Monterey, Cindy Baggett Gray and her husband Jim Gray of Cookeville, and Amy Baggett of Cookeville. He was also a beloved, Papa to Rachel Brooks of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Lee Ann Gray of Mt. Juliet, Sarah Gray Jordan and her husband Jake Jordan of Murfreesboro, and Connor Baggett of Cookeville. He also had one great-grandchild, Noah Brooks of Seymour. James was also survived by one sister, Sally Burris of Florida and many nephews and nieces. James and Doris raised their five children and impressed upon each of them to love the Lord our God and to get a good education, between his five children they hold 12 degrees, including three PhDs. James was proud of his children, he loved his wife, and he was well-loved by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest son, Bob Baggett, formerly of Monterey, as well as his five older brothers, Joe Thomas Baggett, Claude Thomas Baggett, Jr., Willie Ezekiel Baggett, Haskel Hurt Baggett, and George Farrow Baggett. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of the services at 12:00 noon.

Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Ray Price, age 67 of Sparta will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 29, 2019, in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Thomas McCulley officiating. Burial will follow in Saylors Cemetery. Military Rites will be presented by the Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 28th, 4-8 pm at the funeral home. His last ride by horse and buggy will be to Saylor’s Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Wyndridge Health and Rehab Center in Crossville. Born Tuesday, September 18, 1951 in Sparta, he was the son of the late Charlie Price and the late Florence Baker Price. He was a lifetime farmer and avid coon hunter. Herbert attended Lighthouse Church. He made a great decision to follow Christ. As he said, “He got me”. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He was a devoted husband, father, and Pepaw.

Graveside services and interment for Marcia Earlene Farley, age 59, of Cookeville, will be held Thursday August 29 at 1 PM at the Curry’s Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County. Rev. Tony Phillips will officiate. Marcia passed away Monday August 26, 2019 at her home. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.

Funeral services for Mr. Scott Anthony Pimental, age 54 of Putnam Co., will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 2 PM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. The family has chosen cremation after the service. Mr. Pimental passed away in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co. on Tuesday, August 23, 2019. Mr. Pimental was born in Fall River, MA on July 21, 1965 to the late Anthony Pimental and Judith Souza. He was a wrecker driver. Survivors: Wife: Tracey Pimental; 3 Sons: Steven Pimental, Ryan Pimental, Cody Pimental; 1 Daughter in law: Chantelle Foley; Father: John Souza; 2 Sisters: Charlene Souza and Kim Souza; 6 Grand Children: Evan Giblin, Landon Pimental, Skyla Pimental, Leah Pimental, Zachary Pimental, Logan Pimental; A host of family and friends also survive. Preceded in death: In addition to his parents: A sister Cheryl Souza; Father in law: George Silvia; Mother in law: Alice Silvia. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 PM until 2 PM.

Graveside service for Ravenell Elrod, age 92, formerly of Sparta, will be Friday, August 30, 2019, at 11 am at Elrod Cemetery in Sparta. She passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 in Nashville. She is survived by Brother, George T. Elrod of Sparta, niece: Cindy Langford and husband Sam of Sparta; Two great nieces: Jordan Langford and Raeanna Langford.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Allen Flatt, 79, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 30, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County. She passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Mabry Health Care Center. She was born February 22, 1940, in Gainesboro, to the late John William Allen and Dottie Allen Chaffin. On September 30, 1962, she was married to the late Evert B. Flatt, Sr., who passed away November 5, 1994. She was a homemaker, and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Oliver Kenneth Allen and Billy Gene Allen; and 2 Sisters: Violet Martin and Janice Mitchell. Survivors include 1 Son: Evert B. Flatt, Jr. and Pam Shaffer Flatt of Gainesboro; 2 Daughters: Lora Lee Spivey and Steve Spivey of Whitleyville, and Avo and Roger Julian of Baxter; 7 Grandchildren: Amber Flatt, Michael Flatt, Alisha (Alec) Haston, Shelby (Kamron) Johnston, Nolan (Keisha) Spivey, Morgan (Tyler) Jackson, and Jonathan Julian; 4 Great Grandchildren: Jake Flatt, Carter Flatt, Uriah Johnston, and Kallie Haston; and 3 Brothers: Bobby (Wava) Allen and Toy (Linda) Allen, both of Gainesboro, and Larsen (Velma) Allen of Rickman. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emogene Garrett, 89 of Dayton, Ohio and formerly of Cookeville & Monterey will be held Friday August 30 at 11 a.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 p.m until 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. following vistation. Mrs. Garrett died Sunday August 25, 2019 at 3:23 a.m. in Otterbein of Springboro Senior Life Neighborhood in Centerville, Ohio.

Funeral services for Patricia Christine “Chris” Goff, age 56, of Baxter will be held Friday, August 30th, 2019 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Eric Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Goff Cemetery. Chris passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Chris was born Monday, December 3, 1962 in Bloomington Springs. She loved working in her garden and flowers. She loved her beloved dog, Zane. She loved all of her friends at Metcom and Porelon. Chris was preceded in death by her husband, David Dwight Goff; her mother, Della Lillian Rodgers; brother, Terry Rodgers; grandparents, Jess and Anna Dora Rodgers. She is survived by her son, Kyle David Goff of Baxter; daughter, Brandy Leanna Goff of Baxter; brother, John Montgomery of Baxter; sister, Sheila Simpson of Bloomington Springs; aunts, Winnie Jackson of Bloomington Springs and Edith Grandmaison of Rickman; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Ann Goff of Baxter; brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Vickie of Baxter; nephew, Matthew (Jennifer) Goff of Baxter; three very special nieces and nephews, Noah, Sam, and Maddie; a very special friend, Michelle Nash Jeffrey. Funeral services for Mrs. Annella Fern Bilbrey, age 84, of Livingston, will be held Friday, August 30, 2019 at 1:30 PM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bilbrey passed away at Signature Healthcare of Putnam Co. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Mrs. Bilbrey was born in Livingston on January 9, 1935. She was a member of First Baptist church in Livingston. She is going to be greatly missed by all. Survivors: 1 Daughter: Lisa Meadows; 1 Son in Law: Mark Meadows 1 Son: Dale Bilbrey; 1 Grandson: John Michael Stephens; 1 Great Grandson: John Robert Stephens; 1 Niece: Pat Rich; 2 Nephews: Jeff and Jim Gunnels; A host of family and friends also survive. Preceded in death: In addition to her parents; Husband: Carmon Bilbrey. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

A Memorial Service for Sharon Lee Cox,76, of Sparta, will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 2pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Sharon passed away Saturday, August, 24, 2019 at her home. Sharon was born on May 21, 1943 to the late Raymond and Daspeni Subotich Cox in Sparta. In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by: Brothers- Nicholas Cox, and Raymond Reese Jr.; Sisters: Ida Juanita Stults, April Davis, and Mary Bullard; Daughter: Aliesha Holloway; Grandson: Joshua Smith. Survivors include: Daughters-Teresa Owens of Sparta, and Cherry Smith (Bob Kelly) of Sparta; Son: Marty Smith (Jarriecce) of Clarksville; Sister: Sussie Meadows; Grandchildren: Treva Owens, Marlea Owens (Eric), Bryce Owens, Scott Brown (Belinda), Royal Smith (Tori), Perrin Smith, Isabella Smith, Lilly Smith, and Landon Smith; Great-Grandchildren: Kaylee Brown, Jaydyn Wilbourn, Keylyn Wilbourn, Leylyn Wilbourn, and Raymond Crisp. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jane Kendall, 79, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Kendall Cemetery on Harmony Road in Jackson County. She passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. She was born November 30, 1939, in Nashville, to the late Charles Lee Morphis and Hazel Richardson Morphis. On June 1, 1956, she was married to the late Loyd Taylor Kendall, who passed away March 5, 2013. She was a homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother to many. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Brenda Gambrell; and 1 Grandson: Brad Kendall. Survivors include 2 Sons: David Kendall and Floyd Kendall, both of Nashville; 1 Daughter: Barbara Tune of Gainesboro; 1 Brother: Jimmy Morphis; and 1 Sister: Ruby Eatons. She was a grandmother and great grandmother to many. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 Noon until time of services.
