Mrs. Jessie Ruth Tudor Speck, age 95, of Livingston, passed from this life on Monday evening, May 20, 2019 from the Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Jeri Dale Johnson, 71 of Doyle, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta. Born Monday, August 11, 1947 in Gentry County, Missouri, he was the son of the late Billy Keith Johnson and the late Billie Hackathorn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: Daughter: Amy Greenwood (Jackson) of Haltom City, TX; Son: Brandon Johnson (Becky) of Austin, TX; Grandchildren: Drew Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Jacob Greenwood, Joshua Greenwood, and Shelby Greenwood; Sisters: Jackie Mau (Brian) of Truckee, CA and Annette Slatton (Bill) of Doyle. The family has chosen cremation. A graveside service will be held in Tennessee at a later date.

Graveside services for Deborah Sue Gullette Wade, age 56, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 at 11:00 am at Harness Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Harris officiating. Deborah Sue Wade passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born Saturday, June 9, 1962 in El Paso, Texas to the late John Harvey Gullette Jr. and Anna Mae Harness Gullette. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Presley Funeral Home to help with final expenses.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Louise Jernigan Holman, age 90 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mrs. Holman passed away on Sunday evening May 19, 2019. Mrs. Holman was born August 24, 1928 in Sparta, to the late Alton Lewis & Jimmie Mae Moore Jernigan. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Herman Holman; son Freddie Holman; siblings Opal Hodge, Jean Drummonds, Douglas “Bo” Jernigan and Carolyn Guy. She was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked at the old shirt factory on the hill for a few years. It was there she met some of her most treasured friends throughout her latter years. Dorothy never met a stranger, and she cherished and loved everyone. She enjoyed gospel music and attended Hilham Road Freewill Baptist Church until her illness would not allow her. Dorothy made quilts and gifted them to special people in her life. She was famous for her 200 or more homemade pumpkin pies that she made and gave away in the fall. That is why some will know her as the pie lady. Dorothy will always be remembered for her loving and giving heart. Alzheimers may have taken her memories, her mind, and her speech, but the love in her eyes and heart was always there. Those closest to her could tell that Ma was still there. Always cherish and love your mama, even when you think they don’t know, because they do. She passed away at NHC of Sparta surrounded by love and family. The Holman family would like to thank Avalon Hospice and NHC for their excellent care and love. Surviving family members include her daughters Lisa (John) Wilson, Amy (Alan) Cash, Peggy (Dewey) Swindell all of Sparta. Sons: Randy (Kristie) Holman, Rex (Kim) Holman both of Sparta. Grandchildren: Amber (Kyler) Moore, Dalton Wilson, Brittany (Caleb) Tinch, Macy (Jake) Cash, Dustin (Courtney) Holman, Heather (Zach) Jolly, Eric Holman, Derick Holman, Jason Holman, Freddie Roberts, Sabrina York, Ronald (Shannon) Swindell, Nick (Danielle) Holman, Trent (Faith) Holman, Austin Holman. Several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Glenn Bilbrey, age 76 of Cookeville, will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 3 PM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Harris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Hall Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Nolan Cantrell. Mr. Bilbrey passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. Mr. Cecil Glenn Bilbrey was born on February 16, 1943 to the late Cecil Floyd Bilbrey and Lonie Estell Walker Bilbrey in Rickman, Overton Co., TN. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Charles David Fletcher, age 54, of Livingston will be conducted 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from the First Church in Livingston. Bro. Nolen Cantrell will officiate. David passed from this life on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from the Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was born in Overton County on March 12, 1965 to Helen Gore Fletcher and the late Charlie B. Fletcher. David loved his kids and grandkids very much. He enjoyed fishing on Dale Hollow Lake, football, and NASCAR racing. David leaves behind his daughter, Katlyn Green & husband Matthew of Jonesboro; son, Tyler Fletcher of Cookeville; grandson, Judah Green of Jonesboro; mother, Helen Fletcher of Livingston; brother, Marty Fletcher of Livingston; nephews, Josh, John, and Matt Fletcher. David was preceded in death by his father. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services at 5:30 p.m. at the First Church in Livingston.

A Celebration of life for Mrs. Mary Jane “Janie” (Sasha) Mabe age 73 of Cookeville, will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 6 PM at the Unity Church of the Cumberlands located on 10th street in Cookeville. Janie had chosen cremation and the family has followed her wishes. Janie passed away from this life at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Saturday morning, May 11, 2019. Janie was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 25, 1945 to the late Stanley and Marie (Syroid) Stafford. Janie was well known for her crafts, sewing, cake decorations, making her own cards, writing books and poems using the name Sasha Mabe. She wrote a book of Poetry called the Dark Side of Mother Wonderful. She was an accomplished heavy metal drummer and also played the bells. Janie also belonged to an assortment of clubs in Cookeville, including the Cookeville Writers Association, The Embroiders Guild, The Cookeville Art Gallery and Studio, F.C.E., The Cookeville Chapter of the National Button Collectors Society, and the National Sewing Guild. A Member of the Unity Church of the Cumberlands. Survivors: Husband: of 56 years Homer Mabe; 1 Daughter: Kathy Mabe; 1 Son: Keith Mabe and his wife Carmen; 1 Granddaughter: Summer Hagner; Brother and Sisters In-Law: Alvin JR and Betty Mabe, Gene and Carolyn Mabe, Donald and Wilma Mabe, Gary and Brenda Mabe. Preceded in death: In addition to her parents; 1 Brother: Fred Stafford; Father and Mother In-Law: Alvin and Mary Ethel Mabe; 3 Brothers In-Law: John Mabe, Jerry Mabe, Billy Mabe; Brother and Sisters In-Law: Reed and Joyce (Mabe) Kirkland, Arlow and Anna Ruth (Mabe) Gentry.

Celebration of Life for Daniel “Danny” Carnahan, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 6:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Funeral Home with his Brother Brad Carnahan officiating. Danny was born March 28, 1957 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Bradford “Brad” Carnahan and Patsy (Jones) Carnahan. Danny loved his family, friends and never met a stranger. He was an avid Miami Hurricanes fan. He loved Jesus with all of his being. Danny will be terribly missed. Danny is survived by his wife of 40 years Sherry, children Shannon and Shaun, mother Patsy, brother and his spouse Bradford and Loretta Carnahan, sisters and their spouses Vicki (Carnahan) and Jim Tracy, and Kathleen (Carnahan) and Jeff Fetzer. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

A Graveside Service for Thomas Earl Dunham, 62 of Doyle, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Tracy Curtis officiating. Thomas passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019, at his home. He was born Tuesday, September 11, 1956 in Detroit , Michigan. Survivors include: Wife: Elaine Dunham of Doyle; Son: Elwin Thompson of Cookeville; Brothers: Roger Dunham and Terry Dunham of Sparta; Mother: Laheeta Roberts of Sparta. The family will welcome friends from 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial service for Dr. William Gene “Doc” McConnell, age 95 of Sparta, will be at First United Methodist Church in Sparta on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:00a.m. Dr. McConnell passed away on March 12, 2019 in Crossville. Dr. McConnell was born to Charles Martin and Aida Whitely McConnell of Council Grove, Kansas on October 17, 1923. He was their first of two sons. He was a fighter pilot instructor in the Navy in WWII. He practiced and was the owner of White County Veterinary Clinic for over 30 years. He loved to spend time with friends and family over good food, telling tales of his youth, Navy days, and memorable veterinary calls. He spent countless hours playing bridge and other card games. Most of all he loved watching any sporting event, in person or televised, with those friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles E McConnell, and his first wife Marilyn Woods McConnell of 38 years and his second wife Ruth Nixon McConnell of 22 years. He is survived by his daughter Leeanne Hargrove, his grandson William Hargrove, and his step-daughter Connie Stone. The family asks that donations be made to your local Humane Society, SPCA, or animal shelter or the charity of your choice instead of sending flowers.
