Jeanette Creeach, 79 of Sparta, passed away on Monday, January 18 in Pleasant Hill. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Enzena Brown Pierce, age 97 of Sparta, passed away at 6:40pm on Sunday, January 18 at NHC of Sparta from complications of COVID-19. She was a retired nurse and member of Pistole Baptist Church. In consideration of the health and safety of family and friends with the COVID pandemic, a private graveside with Honors by the Nurses Honor Guard will be held at Saylors Cemetery.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Jean Lois Huckeby, age 90, of Georgetown, IN will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from the McDonald Chapel Church in Monroe. Bro. Jerry Myers will officiate. Burial to follow in the Booher Cemetery. Mrs. Jean Huckeby passed from this life on Friday, January 1, 2021 from Guerin Woods Health Campus in Georgetown, IN. She was born April 14, 1930 in Bridgeton, NJ to the late William and Vivian Barbarisi Ewan. She was a registered nurse, loved to knit and was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon, IN. Jean leaves behind her sons, Frances Robert Thalken of Corydon, IN and Michael Charles Thalken of Vineland, NJ; daughter, Kathleen Ann Hofen and husband Karl of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Robert Charles Thalken, Jared and Rachel Butler, and Elise Spalding. The family will welcome friends at McDonald Chapel Church.
Graveside services and interment for David Thomas Hunter, age 63 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday January 20 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Mickey Leftwich and David Dukes will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m until 12:30 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Vera Opal Cumby, age 95 of Cookeville, will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 20,2021, at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. She passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at her home. Vera was born Sunday, November 8, 1925, in Jackson County, TN, Vera was the youngest child of William H. Vinson and Vallie Burgess Vinson. Vera was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, special aunt, and friend. Vera loved her family and would light up when she received visits or phone calls. Vera was a wonderful Christian example to her family and friends. Vera was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ for over 45 years and was very loved by all. Vera is survived by six sons: Ron (Brenda) Ransom, Mike (Gail) Ransom, Danny (Sheryl) Ransom. Please wear face mask and observe appropriate social distancing. Burial will follow in Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mrs. Davis passed away on Saturday, January 16. She was born October 5, 1951 to the late Robert and Bessie Daggett Davis in Pikeville, TN. She loved being around her family and crocheting. She is survived by her Husband, Jackie Lowery; Children, Phillip (Juanita) Brymer, Brandon (Candice) Lowery, and Stephanie (Dustin) Sullivan. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19, masks are to be worn at all times inside the funeral home.
Funeral Service for Fred Hill Rascoe III, age 67 of Sparta, will be Wednesday January 20, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment at Mt. Pisgah. Officiating will be Eric Reynolds. He passed away on January 17, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born on March 30,1953 in Oakridge, TN to Fred Hill Rascoe Jr. and Ruth B. Rascoe. He is survived by his wife, Ingrid Rogers Rascoe; sons, Fred Rascoe IV, and James Rascoe. Fred served his country in the United States Air Force. He also was an avid pilot for many years. He was a mechanical engineer. He also had his PE and was the Dean of Career and Technical Programs at Motlow State Community College. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 20, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M. at Thurman Funeral Home.

He Is Survived By His Wife Of Almost 52 Years, Brenda Craft Stevens Of Monterey; 2 Daughters And A Son-In-Law, Pamela Trahan Of Monterey, Kimberly And Josh Moser Of Bogard, MI; 1 Son And Daughter-In-Law, William Paul Jr. And Heidi Stevens Of Jackson, MI.
Funeral Services for Audrey Lucille Greer Johnson, 91, of Geneva, FL, formerly of Sparta, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jack Chadwell officiating. She transitioned to her eternal heavenly home on January 17th, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her home, in Sparta, TN. Audrey was born on August 16, 1929 to Benjamin Harrison Greer and Isabel Leota Brooks Greer in Sanford, FL. She was the youngest of five siblings: sister Hazel Vining, sister Naomi Poli, brother David Greer, and brother Olin Greer. Audrey was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid gardener and birdwatcher. She loved reading, playing Scrabble, puzzles, and listening to and playing music. She was also a wonderful baker known for her homemade yeast rolls and a top-notch seamstress. Audrey served in ministry for many years at the First Baptist Church of Geneva, FL. She was at a time, the choir director, a Sunday school teacher, pianist, and a soprano/alto in the church choir. She is survived by her children: son Horace Leroy Johnson (Debbie), daughter Patricia Ann Holland (Tom), and daughter Linda Suzanne Sundvall (Tim). The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services for James “Jim” Randolph Gourley, Jr. 78 of Silver Point, will be Thursday, January 21 at 1 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Bro. John Pippin will officiate. Military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Gourley died Friday, January 15 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Jim was a member of the Baxter Church of Christ. He retired as a computer programmer with DPSC, he was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.. Jim and his wife moved to Silver Point from Maryland in 2008. Survivors include wife of 56 years, Helen Neer Gourley of Silver Point; daughter, Mary Angela Wallace of Baxter and Max Wallace; and son, James Randolph (Cape) Gourley, III of Glenrock, PA. The family will receive friends Thursday after 11 AM at the funeral home.
Visitation for Mary Angela Crawford Higdon, 78 of Cookeville, will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 22nd at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Mrs. Higdon passed away peacefully with her children at her side at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 1. She was the third of nine children and was involved in many extracurricular activities, including being titled Ms. Water Safety for Calcasieu Parish in 1962. She graduated from St. Charles Academy in 1960 and received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from McNeese State University in 1964 and 1967, respectively. Mary began her teaching career at Capshaw Elementary and in 1977 accepted a position with Parkview Elementary as a Title I Math teacher. She taught at Parkview Elementary for 20 years with several of those years serving as interim principal. Mary moved to the newly formed Prescott Central Middle School in 1996 and served as the assistant principal. In 1997 she became Principal at Prescott and remained there until her retirement in 2000. Everyone always knew where you stood with her and she was a firm believer in tough love. She loved her time as a teacher and administrator and positively influenced countless students and colleagues. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian Higdon (Kimberly) of Nashville, Paul Higdon (Susan) of Franklin, and Rhonda Higdon England (Luke Chaffin) of Cookeville. Memorial services will be held at a future date in Lake Charles. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Parkview Elementary School or Tennessee Tech University.
Private graveside services and interment for Dr Pete Helton, age 87 of Cookeville will be held Saturday January 23, 2021 at the Sloan Valley Cemetery in Sloans Valley, Kentucky. Dr. Helton died Thursday January 14, 2021 at 7:50 pm in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
