Mr. James Deloy “Shorty” Ayers, age 85, of Upper Hilham Road, passed from this life on Sunday evening, March 31, 2019 from the Overton County Health & Rehab Center in Livingston. He was born in Overton County on January 30, 1934 to the late John & Effie Mae Sullivan Ayers. Shorty worked for many years in construction, then retiring from Hutchinson in Livingston. He married the love of his life, Marie Ella Talley Ayers 59 years ago this year. Shorty was affiliated with the Holly Springs Church of Christ. Shorty leaves behind his loving wife, Marie Ella Talley Ayers of Hilham; grandsons, Patrick Deloy Ayers of Hilham, and Devan K Ayers of Rickman; sisters, Barb Dodson & husband Kenneth of Rickman, and Shelby Hawkins of Nashville; brother, Bill Ayers of Crossville. In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by his son, James Kent Ayers; sisters, Jessie Nell Edmonds, Bonnie Clark, and Geneva Ayers and brother, Lovell Ayers. There are no services scheduled at this time.
Jeffery Dye, Age 57, Of The Shady Grove Community Of Cookeville, Tennessee, Passed Away On Saturday, March 30, 2019, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dye Was Born On November 24, 1961, In Piqua, Ohio, To The Late Kenneth Herman And Dolores Agenbroad Dye. Mr. Dye Was A General Laborer. He Is Survived By His Wife, Melinda Phillips Dye Of The Shady Grove Community; 3 Sisters And 2 Brothers-In-Law, Kathy And Mark Grau Of Piqua, OH, Lori And David Dill Of Piqua, OH, Joni Dye Of Piqua, OH; Brother And Sister-In-Law, Dennis And Liz Dye Of Medford, OR; Brother-In-Law, Otis B. Bowman Of The Shady Grove Community. His Wishes Of Cremation Are Being Honored With Memorial Services To Be Announced At A Later Date.
Funeral services for David Charles Cox, 64 of Cookeville will be Wednesday, April 3 at 11 AM from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Cox died Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1954 in Lebanon to Milford Bass Cox of Cookeville and the late Rebecca Estell Lee Cox. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Nash and grandparents, Dibrell and Bertha Morgan Lee and Martin Lee and Mamie Bass Cox. He was a 1972 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired shipping clerk with 30 plus years of service to Fleetguard of Cookeville and nine years of service to Colinx of Crossville. He was an avid UT Football and Nashville Predators fan. He enjoyed motorcycle riding. He loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed his poodle, Pippin. Survivors beside his father include, daughter and son-in-law Charity and Adam Hipp of Old Forge, NY, sons and a daughter-in-law Josh and Maureen Cox of Merritt Island, Fl, Kevin Cox of Crossville, sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Sam Holm of Cookeville, brother Tim Cox of Baxter, grandchildren: Bailey, Landon and Merritt Cox and Kaden Howard. Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 2 from 5 to 8 PM and after 9 AM Wednesday, April 3 until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. James McReynolds, age 87 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday April 3 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Crest Lawn Mausoleum. James passed away Thursday evening March 28 at Signature of Putnam County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Flatt Roberts, 104, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone Community of Jackson County. She was born September 7, 1914, in Gainesboro, to the late Henry Flatt and Delia Birdwell Flatt. On October 15, 1939, she was married to the late Henry Harold Roberts, who passed away May 28, 1995. She was a homemaker, and a long-time member of the Stone Church of Christ and later the Center Grove Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Tom B., Benton, JD, and Mitchell; and 7 Sisters: Clena, Bertha, Lillie, Mary Lena, Eunice, Rebecca, and Jessie May. Survivors include 2 Sons: Wayne of Palms Springs, CA, and David (Helen) of Knoxville. 1 Daughter: Patsy Jochum of Fredrick, MD. 4 Grandchildren: Julie Roberts, Teresa Waas, Jeanine (Steve) Matz, and David H. (Jill) Roberts. 5 Great Grandchildren: Payton and William Waas, Riley Matz, and Lila and Annie Roberts. 1 Sister: Marie Hershberger of Warren, MI; 1 Sister-in-law: Betty Flatt of Gainesboro. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of services. She passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Happy Haven Children’s Home.

She was born Wednesday, May 2, 1945 in Monterey, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Lafever) Tollett. Ann was a loving Mother, Mema, Nanny, Sister, and friend to all that knew her. She loved flowers, birds, butterfly’s and being outdoors. She was known by a lot of people as Crazy Aunt Ann. She loved sister day when all the sisters got together. She is survived by: 2 Daughters and spouse: Kathy Bennett of Cookeville, Jo Shannon Bullard and Spouse Richard of Cookeville; 1 Son: Scotty Royce Robinson of White County; 5 Grandchildren: Brittney Stinson and Fiancé Tommy Abner, Shelby Robinson, Addilyn Bullard, and Rickey and Lucas Bullard; 1 Great Grandchild: Kylie Abner; 3 Sisters: Nell Burchett, Edna Bowman, Alice Kelly; 4 Brothers: David, Paul, Jimmy and Bill Tollett. Jonathan Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas. Mr. Whitehead passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family, due to complications from acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Derial Quentin Whitehead was born Friday, January 9, 1942 in Walkers Creek, Arkansas to the late Clemon Quentin Whitehead and Mary Helen Nabors Whitehead. Mr. Whitehead served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army driving EPC carriers. Later changed over to Garrison and became a cook and was discharged with honors. He was employed by Triangle Refineries, Houston, TX, for 11 years. He resigned to become his own boss of his own business until 1991. Served his remaining working years as a catastrophe adjuster for Pilot Catastrophe Services, Mobile, AL.

Interment will follow at Maxwell (South) Cemetery. Ms. Maxwell passed away Sunday morning March 31 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Kowalski passed away Saturday March 30 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Burial to follow in the Daniels Cemetery. Mr. Livingston passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, March 30, from the comfort of his home. He was born June 9, 1937 in Detroit MI to the late Archabauld & Eula Allen Livingston. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Lynn loved camping, antiquing, collecting cars, car shows,an avid sportsman and taking care of his late wife. Lynn loved his family very much and his dog Sonny. Lynn leaves behind his son, Dr. Lynn Livingston, Jr. and wife Johanna of Snellville, GA; daughters, Lea Sanregret & husband Robert of Snellville, GA, and Lois Barr & husband William of Royal Oak, MI; grandchildren, Joshua, Leanna, Leslie, and Jessica Livingston, Lauren Joswak, Sydney & Shelby Sanregret, and Sophia & Ryker Barr; sister, Nancy Chastain of Raleigh, NC; and mother-in-law, Ruby Garrett of Livingston. In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Sue Garrett Livingston; sister, Shirley Bechtell; and brother, James Livingston. Linda was born Sunday, August 7, 1949 in Portland, Tennessee and she was the daughter of the late Samuel Otto and Clara Bell (Deasy) Phillips.
Memorial service for Lawrence “Larry” Allen Sanders, 72 of Sparta, will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 308 North Spring Street, Sparta. Larry passed away peacfully on April 1, 2019, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born September 17,1946, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Marshall and Pauline (Reum) Sanders. Larry was retired from Wagner/Cooper Industries/Federal-Mogul (Sparta) after 28 years of service as a machine mechanic. He enjoyed working on and drag racing cars as well as attending cruise-ins in his custom-built Rat Rod. He was well known for his knowledge of engines, transmissions, and caburetors and was always eager to help a fellow hot rod enthusiast solve problems. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Sparta and served as a deacon.Larry was a Vietnam veteran and served with the Navigators and Campus Crusade ministries. He was a gentle, kind-hearted man who loved to make people smile. He was preceded by his parents and twin brothers, Leonard and Leslie. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Pamela (Porter); children Angel (Chad) Crawford of Leander, TX, Andrew of San Antonio,TX, Allen (Trisha) of Sparta; twin sister Laura (Doug) Snyder of Hamilton, MT, Brother Marshall (Sandy) Woodland Park, CO; grandchildren Haven and Caleb Crawford of Leander, TX; Jasmine, Logan, and Tori Sanders of San Antonio,TX; and Riley and Caleigh Morris of Sparta; several sisters-and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his many faithful friends. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. with memorial service to follow at 1:00p.m.

Eddie passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. He was born, June 13, 1944 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Ernesto Rivera Vila and Herminier Jimnez Munoz. Eddie will long be remembered as a classical guitar builder, the “Vila”. He was a life long Bible scholar. Loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Rene and Ernie Vila; sister, Brenda Silvers. He is survived by: his wife, Vickie Harper Vila; three sons, Eddie Vila, Jr. of Texas, Matt Vila of Florida, Jeff Vila of Michigan; three daughters, Liza Guy of New York, Adelka Vila of Texas and Jarrah Soifer of Cookeville; fifteen grandchildren, Mikala Hill, Naomi Vila, Savannah Vila, Sierra Vila, Liberty Vila, Josie Vila, Dylan Vila, Megan Vila, Anthony Guy, Adriele Guy, Amber Guy, Madison Vila, Jasper Vila, Bryce Vila, and William Vila; sisters, Sonya Gutierrez in Florida and Maria Arce.
