Mrs. Kathy Emerton Hawkins, age 68 of Sparta, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Ruby Ann Collins, age 87 of Cookeville, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at her residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Donna LaFever, age 68 of Silver Point, passed away Wednesday January 26, 2022, at Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mr. Curtis Sauer, age 76 of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at his home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Mr. Pershing Boyd Sullivan, Jr., age 70 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Pershing passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 28, 1951, in Jones County, MS, the son of the late Pershing Boyd Sullivan, Sr. and Pauline Brewer Sullivan. He spent his formative years living in Laurel and Waynesboro, MS. He moved to Cookeville in the 1980s and worked at Tennessee Department of Transportation until his retirement. Survivors include his nieces, Ali (Terry) Gant and Adrian (Ryan) Bevis of Birmingham, AL. The family will receive friends Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cookeville Rescue Mission.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nina Carlene Poston, age 75 of Livingston, will be held Friday, January 28, at 1:00 p.m., at Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will follow in Okolona Cemetery. Mrs. Poston passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at her residence. She was born on August 9, 1946, on Highland Mountain, the daughter of the late Jeff and Myrtle Gore Hammock. Carlene was a member of Okolona Methodist Church. She was a factory worker for much of her life before pursuing her passion of taking care of people. She graduated nursing school and worked many years at Livingston Regional Hospital before retiring. She was an avid reader, a great nurse and friend, an amazing cook, and loved by all that knew her. Carlene loved her family and her greatest title was “Nanny.” Survivors include her husband of 56 years, O.B. Poston, Jr.; sons, Michael (Heather Reed) Poston of Pikeville and Scott (Jennifer) Poston of Livingston; daughter, Kristy (Chad) Murphy of Franklin Grove, IL. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Marie Fowler, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, January 28, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Fowler passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at her home. She was born Sunday, March 26, 1939, in Nashville, the daughter of the late Earnest Monroe Estes and the late Annie Olene (Dunnagan) Peyton. Elsie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She never met a stranger and was always giving out her sweet hugs. She was known to take care of everyone she knew and some she didn’t know. Survivors include three children, Marcia Gibson, Jeff (Dorothy) Fowler, and Tommy (Tina) Fowler. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Fowler; a son, Johnny Estes. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Verna Jane L. Fields age 82 of Fairfield, OH, and formerly of Crawford, will be held Friday, January 28, at 6:00 p.m., at Webster Funeral Home in Fairfield, OH. Burial will follow on Sunday, January 30, at 12:00 p.m., in Welch Memorial Cemetery in Monterey. Mrs. Fields passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022. She was born July 6, 1939, in Crawford, the daughter of the late Thomas Ezra Wilson and Lola Mae Randolph Wilson. She attended Rickman High School and graduated in 1958. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Temple, where she helped run a bus route alongside her husband, Leonard. In her later life she was a member of Fairfield West Baptist Church for many many years. Survivors include five daughters, Tammy (Stan) Looper, Sandra (Robert) Campbell, Starla Fields, Joy (Lou, Jr.) Schuler, and Eleasha Fields. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Fields; a son Daniel Gray Fields.

Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia S. Ferguson, age 80 of Livingston, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Burial will follow in Paran Cemetery. Mrs. Ferguson passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at her residence. She was born Friday, January 9, 1942, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Louis and Susie (Rausch) Ehninger. Patricia was a loving wife and mother to her children. She loved her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Harold Ferguson of Livingston; two daughters, Jodi Meade of Columbia and Jill Daniels of Detroit, MI. The family will receive friends Friday, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Caris Hospice in memory of Mrs. Ferguson.

Funeral services for Mr. George Frederick Weber, Jr. age 86 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 11:00 a.m., at Sparta First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Weber passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his home. He was born July 24, 1935, in Henryetta, OK, the son of the late George Frederick Weber Sr. and Anna Louise Swanson Weber. George was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in English and Geology, and his Master’s degree in Education. He was a proud member of the OU marching band, serving as band president, then voted “outstanding bandsman” by his peers in 1958. George marched with the band at multiple Orange Bowl tournaments, and was always eager to share the Sooner football team’s 47 consecutive wins and 2 national championships during his time in the band. He remained an avid Sooners fan his entire life. George met his future bride, Jo Ann Parker, at the Wesley Foundation on the OU campus in 1959. After they married, he served two years in the United States Army, training in the artillery unit at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In 1962, George and Jo Ann moved briefly to Ohio, then to Michigan where he worked for 25 years as a teacher and administrator with the Birmingham Public Schools. He enjoyed teaching American literature, Shakespeare, and writing, and frequently shared stories of his students’ antics. George was an avid gardener and spent summers planting and tending beautiful flower gardens at their home. After retirement, George and Jo Ann moved to Sparta and immediately became involved in the community. George was a 20-year member of the Sparta Rotary Club. He was on the board at the Sparta-White County Senior Center, and served as president of the Friends of the White County Library. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Sparta where he sang in the choir and served on numerous church committees. Survivors include two children, Emily (Art) Hayden of Hamilton, MA, and G. Andrew Weber of Tenants Harbor, ME. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Parker Weber. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the White County Library, the Sparta-White County Senior Citizens Center, or to the First United Methodist Church of Sparta.

Funeral services for Mrs. Palmina “Polly” Catherine Aldous, age 94 of Nashville and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 12:00 p.m., in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Aldous passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Brookdale Belle Meade Assisted Living. She was born Saturday, April 9, 1927, in Sharon, PA, the daughter of the late John Brake and the late Carmella (Cinicolla) Brake. Polly was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her gourmet cooking especially her Italian cuisine. Survivors include three children, Keith (Janet) Aldous, Jane (Bill) Thomas, and Elaine Aldous. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband, George Clarence Aldous; a son, Pat Aldous; grandson, Aaron Aldous. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Tennessee or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ann A. Hummel, age 76 of Allons, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Hummel passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was born November 17, 1945, the daughter of the late General and Ruby Huddleston Harvey. She loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and working puzzles. She enjoyed cooking and going fishing. Survivors include a son Jeff (Crystal) Hummel of LaFollette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Hummel. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial services for Mrs. Amanda Brooke Wallace, age 40 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 1:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Wallace passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was born November 12, 1981, in Cookeville, the daughter of the late Dale and Sharon Rogers Guy. She was a member of Redemption to the Nations Church. She loved to cook, sing, spend time with her family, and serve God. Survivors include her husband, Matthew Wallace of Cookeville; children, Alexis Wallace, Mia Wallace, Dathan Wallace, Isaiah Wallace, Judah Wallace, and Jordan Wallace, all of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Donations for Amanda and her family may be made at any One Bank location.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Evelyn Simmons Zile, age 73 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Zile passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born November 18, 1948, in Sparta, the daughter of the late Virgie Mae & Herbert Eston Simmons. She was a homemaker and a member of Camp Heights Community Freewill Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and loved shopping. Her proudest accomplishment was being “Granny” to her large family. Survivors include four children, Billy (Melinda) Zile of Bone Cave, Virginia (Randy) Lewis of Rickman, Russell Zile, Herbert Zile and Kathy Whittaker, all of Sparta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Zile, Jr. The family will receive friends Friday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial services for Mr. Michael Paul Rainey, age 51 of Bloomington Springs, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 4:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Mr. Rainey passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1970, in Rockledge, FL, the son of Paulette Martin Rainey and the late Larry Wilburn Rainey. He was employed by HVAC as a service tech for over 25 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Melanie Rainey of Bloomington Springs; a son, Paul Rainey of Brandon, FL; two daughters, Marissa Rainey and Mallorie Rainey, both of Bloomington Springs. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Mallorie Rainey Education Fund by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. James “Jim” Robert Slife, age 87 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 30, at 12:30 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Mr. Slife passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born in Piqua, OH, the son of the late Leo Slife and the late Edna Slife. Jim retired from General Motors in Ohio. He earned his master’s degree in psychology. With a love of music and guitar playing, Jim had a gospel group in Ohio for many years. He enjoyed his retirement and continued playing guitar and singing. Jim was a family man. spending precious moments and memories with them. He was a Mason.. Most of all, Jim loved the Lord and his family. Survivors include his wife, Susan Slife of Cookeville; a son, James Slife, II of Ohio; two daughters, Cathy Rhor and Tammy Hughes, both of Ohio; a stepson, Scott Julian of Cookeville.

A visitation for Mr. Timothy Clark Herron, age 55 of Ashland City and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 30, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Mr. Herron passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at his home. He was born Sunday, May 29, 1966, in Cookeville, the son of the late Lynell Herron and the late Dimple Hood. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, animals and being outdoors. Survivors include his girlfriend, Krystal Kirby of Ashland City; a daughter, Jessica Davis of Crossville; a son, Timothy Chase Herron of Cookeville.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. James Paul “Pete” Ray, Sr., age 65 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 30, at 4:00 p.m., at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Ray passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1956, in Livingston the son of the late Sam and Bonnie (Ray) Ray. He was a retired mechanic, working on cars and tire repair. Pete enjoyed fishing, football, TV westerns and NASCAR racing. Survivors include a daughter, Tara (James) Williamson of Inman, S.C.; son, James Paul (Constance) Ray, Jr. of Murfreesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda Roberts Ray. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Funeral services for Mr. Harry James Davis, age 75 of Monterey, will be held Monday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Davis passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Sunday, August 25, 1946, in Davidson County, the son of the late Joseph and Ona Mae Miller Davis. He was a factory worker and a an appliance repairman. He attended Monterey Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include his wife of 56 Years, Sandra “Sandy” Patton Davis of Monterey; a daughter, Rhonda (Joaquin) Ramirez of McMinnville; two sons, Joey (Melinda) Davis of Soddy Daisy and  James “Cricket” Davis (Stacey Hollingsworth) of Hollywood Beach, FL. The family will receive friends Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help with funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Mr. William “Bill” Jacobs, age 60 of Gainesboro, will be held Monday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery in Putnam County. Mr. Jacobs passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born June 19, 1961, in Bay City, MI, the son of William Louis Jacobs, Sr. and the late Suzanne Lynn Arndt. He worked as a machinist in the tool and die industry with Genco Stamping, and was a member of the Willette Christian Church. He also served in the United States Army. In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Darlene Jacobs of Gainesboro; three sons: Richard Jacobs of Monroe, Michael Jacobs and Robert Jacobs, both of Gainesboro; three daughters, Christina Brown of Japan, Cassey Jones of Carthage, and Kayla Jacobs of Cookeville. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Jacobs. The family will receive friends Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
