Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Goodman, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Head and Rev. Scott McKinney will officiate. She died Friday, October 19, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born November 1, 1929 in Hancock County to the late Hugh Sherman and Elsie Catherine Lawson Moles. Jane enjoyed learning throughout her life. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and Education from the University of Tennessee and both a master’s degree in Library Science and a Ed.S. degree from Tennessee Tech University. She was a long-time and active member of Cookeville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Goodman is survived by two daughters, Jane Dickerson of Birmingham, Alabama and Penny Varner (Jim) of Tampa, Florida and four grandchildren, William Dickerson of Dallas, Texas, Robert Dickerson of Chicago, Illinois, Catherine Varner of Atlanta, Georgia and Sarah Varner of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three sisters-in-law, Inez McBee (John) of Kingsport, Carolyn Goodman of Knoxville, and Vivian Goodman of Shreveport, Louisiana; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by special family friend Meredith Thompson Devereaux (Matt) of Knoxville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mark Harris and by her husband of 56 years, LT. Colonel (Ret.) William Penn “Bill” Goodman. Her family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In addition, a graveside service and interment will be held at McKinney Cemetery in Rogersville on Tuesday October 23 at 2:00 (EST) with Rev. Bill Stone officiating. Visitation will be held at Christian Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville TN from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 18 S. Walnut Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501 and/or TTU Foundation, P.O. Box 1915, Cookeville, TN 38505.
Memorial services for Mrs. Joellen “Jobi” S. Eaves, 76 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Point. Pastor Matt Figura will officiate. She passed into the loving arms of her Savior on October 19, 2018. She was born September 3, 1942 in Denver, Colorado to the late Joel G and Dorothy Anderson. She worked as an executive secretary for CEOs and executives of major businesses for most of her life. She met the love of her life and was married to Jim Eaves of Chattanooga in 1964. Upon his retirement in 1990, they relocated from Diamond Bar, California to Cookeville to be closer to his children. She has been an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church and especially enjoyed mission work through her church. She always had a deep love for her animals and any stray animal she may find, she loved her home in the woods and most of all her church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim McNair Eaves. Her family includes two daughters, Nancy Gail (Phil) Pierce of Cookeville and Lisa Ann Eaves of Chattanooga; son, Richard “Mike” Michael Eaves of Chattanooga; sister, Sally (Jim) Dickman of Sidney, Nebraska; brother, Dr. Charles (Elaine) Anderson of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Phillip Pierce, Rebecca (Adam) Jones, Jimmy Pierce, Michele Griswold, Atira (Austin) Spurr, Chase (Olivia) Eaves, Emily Foster and Sheena (Brandon) Lofty; six great grandchildren; and two nephews, Jim (Angie) Dickman and Michael (Rebekah) Dickman. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Private interment will be held at Phillips Cemetery in Algood. Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie G. Maberry, 92, of Gainesboro, will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Fox Chaffin Cemetery in Gainesboro. She passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at NHC of Cookeville. She was born November 16, 1925, in Gainesboro, to the late Lonnie B. Gentry and Lottie Gentry. She was married to the late Mitchell Maberry. She was a factory worker, and a member of the Freewill Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Sons: Daryl Maberry and Howard Lee Maberry. Survivors include 2 Grandchildren: Shanna Lee Muncy of Cookeville, and Shelley (Kevin) Modrall of Cookeville; 3 Great Grandchildren: Cayden Muncy, Lily Modrall, and Logan Modrall; and 2 Daughters-in-Law: Linda Maberry and Carol Maberry, both of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Tuesday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

She Passed away on October, 20, 2018 at Signature Healthcare in Algood. She was born in Doyle to Kendrick and Lizzi Spakes on March 17, 1927. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kendrick and Lizzi Spakes; Her Husband, Leo Anderson, and her Three brothers, Robert, Howard, and Bill Spakes. She is survived by her nephew, Charles and Cindy Spakes; and three nieces, Beverly and Ronnie Rogers, Banetta and Randy Wilford, and Bethene Ward. Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Edith Vanatta Kirkpatrick, age 95 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Kirkpatrick passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was the last surviving child of the eleven children born to the late Elijah Thomas & Annie Lee Young Vanatta. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents and siblings, she is also preceded in death by her two sons James Edward Kirkpatrick and Bob Kirkpatrick and her husband Jim Kirkpatrick. Survivors include her granddaughter Jordon Kirkpatrick Holstrom; Nephew: Steve Bain of McMinnville; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. George F. Raines, 84, of Gainesboro, will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery in Clay County. He passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. He was born September 29, 1934, in Hartsville, to the late Sidney Raines and Ada Davis Raines. On September 26, 1956, he was married to the late Mildred Eileen Raines, who passed away August 14, 2004. He was a Church of Christ minister. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Hulen Raines; and 1 Sister: Helen Apple. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Delores and Charlie West of Baxter; 1 Grandson: Charles David West of Baxter; and 1 Brother: Delbert Raines of Marietta, GA. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. Funeral services for Jody Lee Reecer, 48, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the Double Springs Church of Christ in Putnam County. Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville. He passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born July 14, 1970, in Nashville, to Truman Reecer and Kathy Reecer. On December 19, 1992, he was married to Machelle Reecer, who survives. He was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents: Tim and Armella Reecer; and his Maternal Grandparents: Estis and Vealer Sims. Survivors include his Wife: Machelle Reecer of Cookeville; 2 Sons: Brent (Paige) Reecer of Cookeville, and Bailey Reecer of Cookeville; his Parents: Truman and Kathy Reecer of Bloomington Springs; 1 Brother: Andrew (Kristy) Reecer of Baxter; Father and Mother-in-Law: Wayne and Peggy Lewis of Cookeville; Brother-in-law: Mitchell (Brandace) Lewis of Bloomington Springs; 4 Nieces: Ashlinn Reecer, Shelby Crabtree, Maddie Lewis, and Rylee Lewis; and 2 Nephews: Colton Reecer and Kooper Reecer. Burial will be in the Eckel Cemetery. Mrs. Linda passed from this life on Sunday morning, October 21, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. She was born September 29, 1949 in Overton County to the late Molessia Hammons Brown. Linda attended the Shiloh United Methodist Church. She loved her family, and enjoyed watching game shows, flowers, quilting and crocheting. Linda leaves her daughter, Molessia Melton & husband Jimmy Crawford of Rickman; son, Rodney Phillips & wife Melinda of the Highland Mountain Community; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Cindy Day of Cookeville; brothers, Willard Hammons of the Hardys Chapel Community, and Mike Brown of Cookeville. In addition to her mother, Linda was preceded in death by her husbands, Oscar Phillips and Leonard Collins; brothers, Larry Hammons, and Harold “Hambone” Hammons; sisters, Pat Hammons, and Rita Allen. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Lennie Gayle Nelson, 79 of Walling, will be held at 3pm on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Mike Steakley and Ron Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Gayle passed quietly in her sleep at her home in Walling leaving behind her daughter Katherine (Barry) Gregg of Mount Vernon, Ohio; son Jim (Diane) Nelson of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren Allison Nelson and Troy Nelson of Seattle, Washington; and sister Carole (Lawrence) Dye of Gallatin. She was a three-time cancer survivor: breast, colon, and endometrial cancers. Gayle loved life, loved her family and friends and was a blessing to so many people. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until time of the service at the funeral home.

He Volunteered With Pet Rescue And Meals On Wheels. He Was A Member Of Monterey United Methodist Church. He Is Survived By His Loving Wife, Teresa Targosz Of Monterey; Many Loving Family And Friends. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 10, 1959, in Brunswick, Maine, to Sylvia Rose and the late Robert Rose. He was married to Holly Robertson Rose, who survives. He worked in sales at Dunham Sports, and served in the U.S. Army.
