Mrs. Virginia Burris, age 91 of Cookeville died Monday January 25 at 1:10 am in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Pat Love Spence, age 76 of Cookeville, died Saturday, January 24th at her residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Walter “Walt” Pociecha Jr. Age 83, Of Cookeville, Passed Away On Saturday, January 23, 2021, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Pociecha Was Born On August 24, 1937, In Waltham, Massachusetts, To The Late Walter Webber And Margaret Griswald. Mr. Pociecha Was A Beautician. He Was A United States Navy Veteran. He Is Survived By His Daughters, Donna (Ryan) Loyacano Of Hobe Sound, FL, Laura Lambert (Nick Nickrand) Of Birmingham, MI; 4 Grandchildren, Destinee, Xzandria, Samantha, And Sophia; And 1 Great Grandson, Korbin. His Wishes Of Cremation Are Being Honored With No Services Planned.

Private Graveside Service for Bruce Anthony Brown, 55 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, January 26 at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Bro. Donald C. Moss will officiate. Bruce was born Wednesday, August 18, 1965, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late James Verlon Brown and Mabel Marshall (Stewart) Brown. Bruce was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, sportsman, and loved the outdoors. Bruce proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was in combat in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and the Panama Conflict, and was an expert marksman. He was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Bruce is survived by, Mother, Mabel Brown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scarlett Jude McCurry Education Fund at First National Bank of Tennessee, Sparta Location.

Funeral Services for Aline Hammond Smith, 88 of Sparta will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1 P.M. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Chadwell officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Family Cemetery. She passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at River Park Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born on June 23, 1932 to the late Daniel Wesley and Doye Parks. She was a member of Eastland Church of Christ. She loved Quilting, crocheting, growing flowers, and spending time with her family. Surviving family include: Daughters, Shelia England (R.E.) of Sparta, TN, Teresa Jordan (David) of Sparta, TN, and Tammy Jones of Crossville. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 4 P.M. to 8 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Tommy Lee Davis, age 46 of Gainesboro, will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 beginning at 1 pm in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Randall Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Tommy Lee Davis was born November 22, 1974in Cookeville, TN and he passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 46. He was a resident of Gainesboro. Tommy was the son of Claude Thomas Davis and Sandra Kay Pahl. He was a truck driver and a member of the Faith Baptist Tabernacle in Jamestown, TN. He was married on Nov. 12, 2011 to Kelsie Shea Combs. Survivors include his wife, Kelsie Combs Davis of Gainesboro; son, Gaitlynn Davis of Jamestown; daughters, Ellie Leanne Davis of Jamestown, Kaydance Shea Davis and Kaellyn Sylvia Davis both of Gainesboro. Visitation will be 10am to 1pm.

Graveside Services for Ms. Irene V. Hammock, age 84 of Smith County and formerly of Overton County, will be conducted 2 pm Tuesday, January 26th from Old Union Cemetery. Ms. Hammock passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, January 21, 2021, from her residence. She was born in Overton County on July 4, 1936, to the late Gilbert and Tina Buck Greenwood. Irene loved her family, listening to country music, and going to square dances. Irene leaves behind her daughter Charlotte Collins and husband Ricky of Brush Creek, TN. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Villa Hembree Ray Quick Finney, age 95, of Winterhaven Florida, and formerly of Overton County will be conducted 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from the Ruth’s Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Shannon Scott will officiate. Mrs. Villa passed from this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. She was born October 3, 1925 to the late George Floyd and Martha Melinda Hembree Ray. Villa leaves behind her children, Keith Quick, Linda Quick Scott and husband William Sr.; Michael Quick, and LaJuana Finney Block. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Graveside service and interment for Mr. Larry Boswell, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, January 27th at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Cemetery in Algood. Military honors will be provided. Mr. Boswell died Saturday, January 23rd at his residence. His family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. James W. Cantrell, 87 of Livingston, will be held on Wednesday, January 27 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine. Mr. Cantrell passed away Sunday, January 24. He was born in Rickman, Overton Co., on Monday, March 13, 1933 to the late Sid and Bronzie (Reynolds) Cantrell. James loved to garden, and loved family and friends, he was a true Christian and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Janie Stockton, and Keith Wayne Cantrell. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, 26th starting at 5 PM until 8 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Louise Woody “Becky” Winnett, age 49 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, January 27 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mrs Winnett passed away at 8:05pm on Sunday, January 24 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Becky was born February 26, 1971 in Sparta to the late Jimmy Roy & Joyce Qualls Woody. She was a homemaker. She devoted her time to taking care of her family. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 30 years Tommy Winnett of Sparta; Son, Michael Winnett of Sparta; and Daughter, Amber Sims and husband Jared of McMinnville. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Henry George Goguen, 80 of Sparta, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 28 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Daniel Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mr. Goguen passed away on Sunday, January 24 in Gainesboro. He was born Saturday, August 31, 1940 in Toronto, Canada. Survivors Include His Brother, Larry Goguen; and His Daughter, Jennifer Mayberry (Randy). The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

A memorial service for George Pappas, 84, of Cookeville, is planned for Saturday, January 30th at 11 AM at Heavenly Host Lutheran Church located at 777 South Willow Avenue in Cookeville. Pastor Andrew Smith is officiating. Mr. Pappas passed away on January 16th peacefully at home in his sleep with his wife, daughter and son-in-law by his side. In 1953, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, actively serving until 1956 and in the reserves until 1961. George was a professional truck driver, driving for Parco Foods among others. After “retirement” he drove a flower delivery truck which he truly enjoyed. George started chasing Rosi in 1976 and she finally gave in and married him on his birthday in 1981. He always said it was the best present he ever had! When George and Rosi moved from Michigan City to Cookeville in 2004, they felt like they had “hit the jackpot” as their new neighbors quickly became like family. George is survived by his wife and best friend Rosi, daughters Julie Ann (J.D.) Elmquist, Jill (Nick) Landers and Beth (Craig) Brown. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Kindred Hospice for their tender care of George for the last several months, especially Jenni and Nikki.

Memorial services for Charles Ray Young, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 1 pm at the Center Grove Church of Christ with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Mr. Young passed away on Friday, January 8 at his residence. He was the son of William Fred Young and Bessie Mae Flatt Young. He was a retired truck driver, member of the Teamsters Union and the Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, riding a trike, playing cards at the Senior Citizens Center and going to auctions. Survivors include his wife Ruth Jackson Young of Cookeville; son, Todd (Vivian) Young of Clovis, CA; step-children, Mona (Joe Hamilton) Taylor, Mike (Patricia) Jackson and Monica (Phillip) Robinson. Visitation will begin at 10 am until service time at 1.
