Lillian Roberta Rankhorn, age 84 of Sparta, passed away on Monday morning February 11, 2019 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Mr. George David Mayberry, age 78 of Cookeville, died Sunday, February 10th at NHC Healthcare Cookeville. Arrangements for Mr. Mayberry are incomplete.
Funeral services for Mr. William “Bill” Lynn Romick, age 87 of Algood, will be held Tuesday February 12 at 11 a.m. at Algood United Methodist Church with Rev. Albert Willis officiating. Entombment, with military honors, will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at Algood Methodist Church. Friends will serve as pallbearers. He died Friday evening February 8, 2019 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Bill was born Sunday July 12, 1931 in Irondale, Ohio to the late William Charles and Opal Elizabeth Davis Romick. Since moving to Algood Bill and his wife have been active members of Algood United Methodist Church. He was a past member and past Exalted Ruler of Hastings, MI Elks Lodge # 1965. He was a retired Plant Purchasing Manager with the Eaton Corporation and a U. S. Air Force Veteran. Funeral services for Mr. Mikel O. “Booger” Brown, age 52 of Cookeville, will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Eckles Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 11, 2019 starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. officiating the service will be Bro. Nathan Hawkins. Brown was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN to the late Oscar and Molissa Vela Hammons. Mikel attended the Ole Country Church located in Sparta, TN. He worked construction as a roofer.
Funeral services for Ms. Donna Kay Franklin Reagan, age 63 of Livingston, will be conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Rick Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the Livingston Funeral Home. Ms. Reagan passed from this life on Saturday evening, February 9, 2019, from the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Overton County, December 13, 1955 to the late William Crawford & Antha Elizabeth Cooper Franklin. Donna loved her family dearly. She enjoyed traveling, seeing and putting a smile on everyones face. Donna loved her grandchildren and attending their events. She loved and was very proud of her two sons, Shawn and Brian. Donna had a great work ethic and Christian in faith.

Daisy Dimple Palk was born on March 17, 1928 in Putnam County, TN to the late James Lafayett and Flora (Fields) Wood. She was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Bro. Bill Downey will officiate. Mrs. Betty passed from this life on Saturday morning, February 9, 2019 from the Overton County Health & Rehab Center in Livingston. She was born in Overton County on August 25, 1932 to the late Hobert & Ellen Cravens Ogletree. Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Livingston. Betty leaves her daughter, Ellen Michelle Bowling Lee & husband Butch of Cookeville; grandson, Dorsey Lee Fyffe & wife Alexis of AZ; granddaughter, Nichole Fyffe Fowler & husband Will of York, SC; great-grandsons, Andrew Fowler, Maximus Fyffe, and Matthew Fowler; great-granddaughters, Gracie Fowler, and Leah Fyffe; step-sons, James Bowling of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Cecil Bowling of Lexington, KY; step-daughter, Madelyn Humphreys of Owingsville, KY; sister, Anna Sue Densmore of Fortville, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Fyffe Holman; brother, Grady Ogletree; sisters, Ruth Evans, Mary Lutzweit, and Peggy Ann Claborn. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday afternoon from 2 p.m. until time of services at 6;30 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

He passed away from this life on Sunday morning, February 10, 2019 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. Mr. Delon Robbins was born in Hilham, Overton Co., TN on June 7, 1935 to the late Willie Hugh and Liva Maynord Robbins. Delon worked in the furniture factory for years. Delon will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Charles Walter Swallows was born on September 1, 1940 in Putnam County to the late Clarence Haskell and Magalene (Tinch) Swallows. Charles worked for the Bookstore at T.T.U. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Swallows; 2 Brothers: Johnny and June Swallows; 1 Sister: Bobbie Ordwall. He is survived by 2 SONS & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Jerry Swallows-Gallatin; Kevin (Becky) Swallows-Cookeville; 1 Daughter: Wanda Otto-Cookeville; SISTER-IN-LAW: Billie Swallows-Cookeville; 7 GRANDCHILDREN & 3 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. A Celebration of Life for Bernell Hudgens, age 97 of Mooresville, NC formerly of Sparta, will be held Wednesday, February 13 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home at 3pm with a family graveside service to follow in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at Hunter Funeral Home. She passed away early Thursday morning in Mooresville. Mrs. Hudgens was born February 13, 1921, in White County to the late C.K. and Hassie Clark Ward. She was a loving wife and mother who was also a teacher and worked for a time at the Commerce Union Bank, later as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Co-op Tobacco Warehouse and was active in her church and community. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Hugh, son Hugh Ward Hudgens, her sister and three brothers, and great-granddaughter Keara Rose McMinn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, Mt. Gilead Cemetery Fund or Sparta 1st United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, February 12, 2019 starting at 5 PM until 8 PM. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Eugene McCowan, Bro. Bruce Mullinex. She passed from this life on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Livingston Regional Hospital. Miss Cleo Carmack was born Detroit, Michigan on July 27, 1944 to the late Lloyd and Bronza (Hunter) Carmack. Cleo was a member of the Holly Springs Church of Christ. Cleo was a 1963 graduate of Livingston Academy and she graduated in the Top Ten of her class. Cleo was a loving and caring daughter, sister, and aunt, and a special friend to so many. She was just like a mother to Kevin, Kineta, and Kim. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration life for Georgia Lee (Colburn) McCurdy, 63 of Cookeville, will be held at Willow Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville, on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. Georgia entered into eternal peace on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Georgia was born on October 10, 1955 in Grand Rapids, MI, to Leon & Marian Colburn. She graduated from Caledonia High School in 1974. On June 29, 1974 she married Richard Oliver McCurdy, Sr. in Alaska, MI. Georgia dedicated her life to Christ and was a servant to all those around her. Visitation with the family will be from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kindred Hospice at 750 E Spring Street, Suite B, Cookeville, TN or to Willow Avenue Church of Christ.
A Celebration of Life Service for Yasuko “Tie” Winfree, age 86, of Baxter, will be held Monday, February 18th at 6 pm in the Chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Wills officiating. Tie passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Tie was born on January 28, 1933 in Hokkaido, Japan. She was the daughter of the late Taro Koga and Nobu Hayashida Koga. The family later moved to Koga, Japan where she grew up. She married Leo Winfree of Baxter in 1952. She met Leo in Japan during his service in the Korean War. Tie has been a resident of Baxter since 1954 and became an American citizen in 1963. She worked for 40 years, of which the last 30 years were spent in the cafeteria at Baxter Elementary School. Tie attended and was baptized at Baxter United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the community, always ready to feed and care for whomever entered their home. Tie enjoyed traveling back to Japan, fishing, crafts, hosting visiting Japanese students, and loving her family. She was a wonderful, loving, and devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. Tie is survived by her husband, Leo Winfree, her four children, Alvin Winfree (Julie), Keith Winfree, Scott Winfree (Stephanie), and Amy Wheelock (Tim), thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and six siblings. The family will receive friends on Monday the 18th, from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm at Presley Funeral Home.
