Obituaries For Monday, December 17

Mrs. Cindy Hill, age 61 of Cookeville, died Sunday night, December 16th at her residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Susan Dian Giard, 62, of Gainesboro, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was born December 2, 1956, in Coral Gables, FL, to the late John Thomas Ownby and Myrtice Zalene Ownby. She was married to Robert Dennis Giard, who survives. She worked as a surgical coordinator. Survivors include her Husband: Robert Dennis Giard of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Brent Welkner of GA, and Brian Welkner of Finland; 4 Grandchildren; and 1 Sister: Sandra. No funeral services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Arlee Freeman, age 75 of Cookeville died Saturday morning December 15, 2018 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Hallie Ruth Garrison, age 88, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with James Rogers and Sammy Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 17, 2018, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Tuesday, December 18, 2018, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Hallie Ruth Garrison passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at NHC HealthCare in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born Friday, July 11, 1930 in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee to the late Edley Dennis Smith and Myrtle Louvera Hawkins Smith. She was a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ and retired from Acme Boot Company.

Funeral services for Virginia Wray (Copeland) Williams, 84, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Bill Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville. Virginia passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1934, in Rickman, Tennessee, to the late Hugh and Floy (Wray) Copeland. Virginia was a loving wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and strived to live her life as a Christian example. While we mourn her loss, we take comfort in her gain. Virginia is survived by a daughter, Stacy and Bill Brown; a granddaughter, Katherine Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and special friends. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bill Williams; one brother, Tom Copeland; and one sister, Sarah Dial. The family will receive friends from noon Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Cookeville Rescue Mission.

Funeral services for Frances Athelia Waterfield Flint, age 87 of Muskegon, Michigan, formerly of Sparta, will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, Sparta, Tennessee with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home. Mrs. Flint died Dec. 13, 2018, at Sanctuary at The Park in Muskegon, Mich. A native of Princess Anne County, Va., she was a daughter of the late William E. Waterfield and Agnes D. Waterfield Marcum. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert K. Flint, a retired Navy chief corpsman, her brother Ray L. Waterfield and her sister Carolyn W.S.S. Simpkins. Known as “Frankie,” she had several careers, including working as an Emergency Room admissions specialist at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.; an apartment manager in Orange Park, Fla.; and had worked at Goodwill Industries in Sparta, Tenn.

Funeral services for Gladys Anderson, 91 of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Allen officiating. A private burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville. She was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Anderson and a son, Myron Anderson. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son Ronald Anderson and wife Kim of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Loftis, age 95 of Cookeville will be held Wednesday December 19 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Christine’s family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Sandy Boles, age 77, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Sandy passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin. She was born Wednesday, October 15, 1941 in Johnson City, New York to the late Joseph and Louise Szewczak. Sandy was a loving mother, wife, and a strong Christian lady. She taught us to be strong, to love, to laugh, and to be kind. Sandy was the best mom and role model. She was always willing to help others. She has such a beautiful, loving, and caring spirit. She loved her family more than anything else and was very proud of everything they did. Everyone loved her outgoing and joyful personality. Sandy worked at Walmart for 25 years and loved working with the great friends she made there. She fought hard against the cancer and never complained. We love you so much nanny and are so thankful God gave us you, an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. Preceded in Death by: Bill Boles, Jerry Burnsworth. Survived by: four children; Laurie Burnsworth, Donna Bonds, Debi Palmer, Robbie Litwin; eleven grandchildren; Alex Bonds, Blake Bonds, Madison Bonds, Morgan Bonds, Dakota Palmer, Montana Palmer, Nicole Litwin, Austin Litwin, Abby Litwin, Sierra Sisco, and Ricky Simmons; one great grandchild; J.T. Bonds. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to The American Cancer Society.

A Funeral service for Kelly DeWayne Cash, age 50 of Mt. Gilead Community of White County, will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Paul Williams and Michael Neal officiating. Interment will be in Copeland Chapel Cemetery, Sparta. He passed from this life on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Hospice of Cumberland County in Crossville. Cash was born Wednesday, December 11, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Joyce Cole Cash and the late Kenneth Glenn Cash. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Grady and Lois Cash and Willard and Adaleen Cole. Cash is survived by his: mother – Mary Joyce Cash; 2 sons – Cody and Ty Cash; former wife and mother of his children Christie Cash; 2 brothers – Alan Cash and wife Amy, Kevin Cash; 2 nieces – Brittany Tinch and husband Caleb and Macy Cash; special nephew Austin Matthew Cash; special friend Ashley McCaleb; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends also survive. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, and again Thursday 8-11 AM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life for Richard L Harding, 80 of Cookeville, will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday December 22, 2018 at Algood United Methodist Church at !2:00 with the Pastor Albert Willis officiating. Mr. Harding passed on Friday, December 7, 2018. Born Wednesday, March 23, 1938 in Owasso, Michigan, he was the son of the late Donald Harding and the late Etith Palk Harding. Richard grew up in Cookeville and was very active in Scouting, being one of therefrom Troop 108 who earned Eagle Scout Gold Palm, God and Country and Explorer Silver Award in the mid 1950’s. After proudly serving in the U S Navy he came back to Cookeville attending Tennessee Tech and earning a degree in math. Then spending a brief stent in Maryland he moved to home open a family business, Exotic Tropicals with his Uncle and Aunt Alard and Lovey Harding. The family will receive friends at the Church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 22, 2018. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Algood Methodist Church.
