Obituaries For Monday, August 31

A funeral mass of Christian burial for Margaret Ann Ott Sarr, 87, of Cookeville, TN, formally of Norwalk, Ohio, will be held Tuesday, September 1, 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk, Ohio. Visitation will be Monday, August 31 at Walker Eastman Heydinger Funeral Home in Norwalk from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM with Praying the Holy Rosary to follow. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Mrs. Sarr died Wednesday, August 26, 2020. She was born August 21, 1933 on the family farm in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Lewis and Gertrude (Souslin) Ott. Margaret married the late Richard Sarr on February 20, 1954 and together they raised five children. Mrs. Sarr lived most of her life in Norwalk, Ohio. She recently returned to Cookeville, TN to be near her children, and also lived in Cookeville from 1968 to 1981. Mrs. Sarr was a homemaker to her husband and children. She was strongly dedicated to her religious faith. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, spending time with her family, and playing cards. She was a Cleveland Indians fan and watched every game she could. Her family includes her children Michael (Deborah), Carolyn (Richard) Howell Jr., Kenneth, and James all of Cookeville and Connie Bogard of North Port, Florida.

Funeral services for Mr. Delton Richardson, age 97 of Cookeville, will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 1 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Richardson Cemetery located in Monroe, Overton Co. Mr. Richardson was a member of the Duncan’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and loved his family and church family very much. He helped build the Dale Hollow Damn in Celina, then he went to Ohio and worked as a Crane Operator for a company by the name of McNeal Akron Company in Akron, Ohio. All who knew him will miss Mr. Delton Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Renate Hurst Richardson whom he married March 3, 1992; 1 Son, Rockford Richardson and his wife Karen. A host of family and friends and grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, August 31, 2020 starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Wayne Sullivan and Bro. Tommy Phillips.

Funeral services for Frederick “Fred” Waldo Leverett, 86 of Baxter, will be Tuesday, September 1 at 3 PM at Dyer funeral Home. Interment with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard will be in Nash Cemetery. Mr. Leverett died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 13 years, serving as C119 mechanic. He was a retired Fork Lift Operator with General Motors Corporation in Pontiac, Michigan. He was a member of Nash Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters Karen (David) Carter of Baxter, and Phyllis (Simon) Carter of Florida. The family will receive friends Tuesday after 1 PM until service time.

Visitation for Mr. Paul Eugene “Gene” Kessel, age 87 of Sparta, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Vinton Memorial Park in Vinton, Ohio. He passed away at 1:18 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2020 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital from complications to a recent fall. Gene was born August 18, 1933 in Nitro, West Virginia to the late Londis Howard & Effie Blanch Casto Kessel. He owned and operated a Marathon Station in Dayton for many years before retiring from Marathon as a truck driver. He took great pride in his work, always sending his work uniforms to the dry cleaners so that he would look professional for his customers. His hard working, glass half-full attitude carried him throughout his life. As recent as a few weeks ago, he cut the grass for his neighbor as well as he kept his yard well manicured. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Vinton Memorial Park Mowing Fund PO Box 148, Vinton, Ohio 45686.

Graveside services for Rita Lorraine (Baryiski) Clouse, age 81 of Baxter, will be held Wednesday September 2, 2020 beginning at 11:00 am Goff Cemetery in Baxter with Gary West officiating. Mrs. Clouse passed from this life Friday, August 28, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She worked at Aquatech in Cookeville for many years. She was a member of Nash Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughtes, Patricia Bohannon of Cookeville, Brenda Dunton of Salinas, CA, Elaine Clouse of Baxter, Gail Clouse of Baxter, and sons, Lester (Pokie) Clouse of Pikeville, and William (Billy) (Goat) Clouse of Cookeville.

Funeral services for Eulene Brewington Holmes, 77 of Cookeville will be Wednesday, September 2 at 12 Noon with interment to follow in West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. Bro. Kevin Daughrity will officiate. Mrs. Holmes died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at her home. She enjoyed reading, dancing and was a friend to all who knew her. Survivors include daughters LuWanna Baggett of Louisville, KY, Tammy Alverson of Florida, Dana Gubics-Moss, Latecia Holmes, Alecia Holmes all of Michigan, and son Shannon Holmes of Michigan. The family will receive friends Wednesday after 10 AM until service time. The family requests all attendees to wear a mask due to COVID-19.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Willadean Friedrich, age 87 of Rickman, will be conducted 2 pm Wednesday, September 2nd, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Bro. Nolen Cantrell will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Mrs. Friedrich passed from this life on Saturday evening, August 29, 2020, from the comfort of her residence. She was born in Overton County on October 4, 1932, to the late Joe Davis Brown and Nancy Ellen Copeland Brown. Willa enjoyed flowers, working in her garden, and playing with her cats. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed drawing and painting. Mrs. Willadean Friedrich is survived by her loving husband Harry Friedrich of Rickman; daughter Deborah Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee; sons Kevin Friedrich and wife Kim of Nunley, Tennessee, and Allen Friedrich and wife Nancy of Ocala, Florida. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday from 11 am until the time of services at 2 pm.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rita Jenkins, 94, of Whitleyville, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Cubb Creek Cemetery in Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services. She passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020, at her residence. She was born September 28, 1925, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Sidney Cicero Sloan and Zona Sisco Sloan. On August 14, 1942, she was married to the late Jack E. Jenkins. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, as well as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Whitleyville and Gainesboro. She was a member of the Whitleyville Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Harold “Seth” Russell Langley, 21 of Sparta, will begin at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Central Church of Christ. Officiating Bro. Doug Downs, Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery. He passed from this life on August 26, 2020, at his home in Hubert, North Carolina. Seth was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He is loved and missed by so many because of his abundant generosity and carefree spirit. He never met a stranger and made it a point in life to have fun and make the most of every day. He worked hard, even when he was small, always wanting to find something to fix… even if it wasn’t always broken. His love and his heart were too big for this world, and while he may have been broken by that, we know that the Lord has mended him. God has fixed his heart and healed his pain. There is, and always will be, a very large void where he used to be. We can only hope to pacify this by spreading his love and generosity to everyone. He is already very, deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Brittney Langley of Hubert, NC; His beloved son, Jett Russell Langley; His father, Tony (April) Langley of Sparta, TN.; His mother, Jennefer (James) Willard of Sparta. The family will accept visitors from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Wednesday at the church.

Funeral services for Charles “CHUCK’ Michael Shanks, 67 of Baxter, will be Thursday, September 3 at 1 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with Dr. Jim McAfee officiating. Interment with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard will be in Smellage Memory Gardens in The Boma Community. He was a driller in the construction industryHe was a Army veteran in the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his Mother, Margie Allen Shanks, his Daughter, Tammy Shanks and his Son, Charles Todd Shanks. The family will receive friends Thursday after 11 AM until service time at the funeral home.
