Warren Executive Dismisses Animal Control Director

Warren County has dismissed Animal Control and Adoption Center Director Sherri Bradley from her duties due to insubordination and records management.

County Executive Terry Bell said Bradley took great care of the animals. Bell said they had an issue with keeping records for quite some time.

“We’ve been having issues for months and months at animal control and we got to looking into it and it’s just one of those things that we’ve got to a point that to where changing the administration was the only way to make it,” Bell said. “To make the necessary changes to make everything better for everybody.”

The county will post three full-time positions for the animal shelter. Bell said he expects to fill the three positions within two weeks. Bell said the county would not fill the vacant director’s position and decided to go a different direction in the shelter’s administration.

“We are going to actually change a little bit from what we’ve been having,” Bell said. “The county when they got into animal control we’ve had a little bit of issues ever since we have had a director, and we are looking at making it a supervisory position and it will come through the county executive’s office a little more so there will be some connection between the Warren County government and animal control.”

Bell said with recent events some rumors on social media have gone around about the shelter considering euthanizing animals and that those rumors are false.

“I know it went around on social media that we are going to euthanize animals, that is not what we are into,” Bell said. “Come down there if you are a Warren County taxpayer or anybody else that adopts one of our animals and give them a good home.”

Bell said he hopes the shelter can rebuild relationships with rescue organizations. Bell said a lot of moving pieces are happening with the shelter and can assure the residents that the animals are properly being taken care of.
